On the afternoon of September 1, at Ho Guom Theater (Hanoi), Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and his wife attended a solemn rally to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).
First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez affirmed that the history of extraordinary struggles and glorious victories of the Vietnamese people is the foundation for the exemplary relationship between the two countries with the unconditional support of the Cuban Revolution; emphasizing that Cuba is extremely honored to be the first country in Latin America to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on December 2, 1960 and the first country in the world to establish the Solidarity Committee with South Vietnam.

The Cuban leader expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their invaluable support for Cuba's food security, especially the meaningful donation campaigns to support Cuba as recently launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
The First Secretary and President of Cuba once again affirmed that the brotherhood between the two peoples of Cuba and Vietnam has overcome all geographical distances and economic conditions to become a sustainable spiritual value and nothing can break this special solidarity and friendship.
Reviewing the important milestones in the history of bilateral relations, President Luong Cuong emphasized that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always respect and acknowledge Cuba's solidarity and wholehearted support for Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and national reunification, as well as in the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam today; and solidarity with Cuba comes from the heart and in the thoughts of each Vietnamese person.

Vietnam has always attached special importance to relations with Cuba, constantly consolidating, fostering and developing comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in each region and in the world.
The President affirmed that the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba have been cultivated and tested in the most difficult periods of each country's revolution, going through complex changes in the world situation over the past 65 years and to this day, that relationship has not changed and has become increasingly deeper and better.
