On the morning of September 1, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, right after the solemn state-level welcoming ceremony, General Secretary To Lam held talks with First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.
At the talks, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the visit of First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and his wife is of special significance on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year celebrating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez expressed his emotion at being able to live in the warm affection of the Vietnamese people during the visit as well as the great support of the Vietnamese people in the recent donation campaign to support the Cuban people.
The two leaders agreed to continue to consolidate and enhance political trust and strategic coordination; maintain exchanges of high-level visits, contacts and dialogues, on all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, localities, organizations and people; increase theoretical exchanges on the path to socialism, share experiences in leading socio-economic development and Party building work, prepare for the organization of a national Party Congress in each country in 2026; coordinate research and widely disseminate Ho Chi Minh's ideology and Fidel Castro's ideology in each country; elevate and effectively implement existing dialogue and cooperation mechanisms to review and promote agreed directions, measures and goals.
General Secretary To Lam and First Secretary and President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez agreed to promote and deepen economic - trade and investment cooperation, especially in the areas of strategic cooperation agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders, including: Agriculture, solar energy and biotechnology - pharmaceuticals.
Cuba affirmed that it will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to do business and invest in Cuba to create a breakthrough in cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of rice production and agricultural development under the new model to support Cuba in increasing local food production, contributing to ensuring food security, a key factor to ensure sustainable development of Cuba in the current context.
The two leaders agreed to encourage and facilitate businesses of the two countries to establish joint ventures in pharmaceutical production, transfer biological and pharmaceutical technology from Cuba, promote research and development activities in biological and high-tech pharmaceuticals in Vietnam to provide safe and effective medical products, and improve the health of the people of the two countries.
The two sides agreed to continue focusing on promoting cooperation in areas of strength and mutual interest, including: National Defense, security, justice, science - technology, construction, culture, sports and people-to-people exchanges; encourage the implementation of cooperation programs in each field, area, as well as between socio-political organizations of the two countries such as between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Cuban Revolutionary Protection Committee, between two communist youth delegations, between the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Ethnic Groups.
