These requirements were put forward by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his inspection of the progress of the T3 terminal project at Tan Son Nhat Airport on August 10.
The project, which broke ground in late 2022, has a total investment of nearly 11,000 billion VND from the capital of Vietnam Airlines Corporation (ACV).
This is the largest domestic terminal in the country, capable of serving 20 million passengers per year upon completion. The terminal will increase the total capacity of Tan Son Nhat Airport to 50 million passengers per year, in addition to the existing T1 and T2 terminals.
According to ACV, the T3 project has completed all rough construction work. The system of equipment and machinery is being imported and installed according to the schedule of each project component.
The units are striving to complete the steel structure installation by September 2, 2024, and put the project into operation on April 30, 2025.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the relevant agencies, the investor ACV, and the contractors for their implementation of the project, making up for the previous delay and especially the 3,000 enthusiastic workers on the construction site.
To put the project into operation on April 30, 2025, the Prime Minister requested ACV to focus on human resources, continue to promote the spirit of "only discussing, not retreating," "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain," "eating while hurrying, sleeping while urgent," and constructing "three shifts, four shifts," working through holidays and Tet.
The Prime Minister noted that the construction time is not long, with only over 7 months left (including 1 month of Tet), while the workload is still quite large (about 45.7%). This is a part of the work that requires high technical and aesthetic standards, as well as close coordination and synchronization between contractors and construction units.
Therefore, it is necessary to direct more resolutely, supervise more strictly, and promptly handle any emerging issues to ensure the construction progress and quality of the project.
When the T3 terminal is put into operation, the Prime Minister reminded that it is necessary to connect and organize the traffic inside the airport and the urban road system in a synchronized manner to avoid congestion.
To create convenience for users and reduce the number of personnel operating the terminal, it is necessary to promote digital transformation, invest in smart management and monitoring systems, and automation.
It is necessary to complete the greenery and landscape of the terminal's surroundings, at parking lots and roads, to ensure synchronization when it is put into use.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee was assigned to promptly implement and complete the connecting roads, ensuring that they are put into use in a synchronized manner, meeting the travel needs when the T3 terminal is put into operation.
The Ministry of National Defense is responsible for coordinating with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and relevant ministries and agencies to research and resolve the issues related to national defense land to allocate roads and scenic areas around the T3 terminal and effectively exploit Tan Son Nhat Airport.
