On September 12, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam said that Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio sent a telegram of condolences to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 10, expressing his deep condolences to the victims who died in storm No. 3 as well as the victims' families, and sending his most sincere encouragement to people affected by the storm.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Thanh Binh received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki to exchange greetings on September 11.
The Embassy of Japan affirmed that the Japanese Government always stands side by side with Vietnam and is ready to support Vietnam's necessary needs to the best of its ability. The Japanese Government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), decided to provide emergency relief supplies (water filtration equipment, multi-purpose plastic sheets) to overcome the damage caused by the storm in Vietnam.
Also on September 12, the Korean Embassy in Vietnam announced that Korea decided to provide humanitarian aid worth 2 million USD to support Vietnam in overcoming the damage caused by storms and localized heavy rains that occurred in Vietnam recently.
"The Korean government decided to provide this aid package in the hope of contributing to the restoration of damaged areas and helping people in the affected areas return to their normal lives as soon as possible," the Korean Embassy said in a statement.
Previously, on September 11, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam announced that the Australian Government provided Vietnam with an initial aid of 3 million Australian dollars and the first batch of emergency relief goods was delivered to Hanoi on September 11.
"We are helping Vietnam in any way we can. We are pleased that we have been able to quickly mobilize support to the worst affected areas and hope this will alleviate some of the immediate pressures on families and communities. We stand with Vietnam at this difficult time," said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski.
The US Mission in Vietnam, through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing $1 million in emergency humanitarian assistance to support Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3. The US aid will be allocated to humanitarian relief partners to be able to provide cash support for various purposes, providing shelter, clean water, sanitation as well as other support besides food. On September 11, responding to the call of General Secretary, President To Lam and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son launched a campaign for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the Ministry, Vietnamese representative agencies and overseas Vietnamese to support our compatriots affected by storm No. 3.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son called on all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Ministry to donate at least 1 day's salary to support our compatriots; focus on implementing and completing this meaningful donation within the next 10 days.
For our representative agencies abroad, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son requested timely information and organization of fundraising activities to meet the expectations of overseas Vietnamese who wholeheartedly turn to the Fatherland.
