The Border Guard has adjusted, merged, and reorganized 226 organizations, suspended 77 organizations; reduced 2,330 positions.

On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the Border Guard's Traditional Day (BDBP) (March 3, 2019 - March 3, 2025) and the 36th anniversary of the National Border Guard's Day (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2025), Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of the Border Guard - had a discussion with the press on the content of building a lean, compact, strong Border Guard force "Exemplary, typical", contributing to the successful implementation of the cause of building, managing, and protecting national borders.

According to Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, the Party Committee and the Border Guard Command thoroughly grasp the viewpoint on building forces, focusing on the organization and staffing in a streamlined, compact, and strong direction; clearly defining functions and tasks; at the same time, ensuring balance and synchronization between the organizational and human factors with weapons, technical equipment and security work.

Up to now, the entire Border Guard force has adjusted, merged, and reorganized 226 organizations, suspended 77 organizations; after adjustment, 2,330 positions have been reduced; renamed and relocated the positions of 39 Border Guard stations; established the Northwest Training Center.

The merger and adjustment were carried out synchronously, effectively, in accordance with the regulations and instructions of superiors. The Party committees, commanders and officers and employees of the merged units all have a unified awareness and consensus from top to bottom, building high determination in organizing and performing tasks.

Border Guard focuses on investing in building forces that have been identified as a direct force to modernise in the spirit of Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW, dated September 28, 2018 of the Politburo on "National Border Protection Strategy", including: Technical reconnaissance; special task of drug and crime prevention and control; border gate control.

Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai emphasized that promoting the building of a lean, compact, strong and comprehensively strong Border Guard force "Exemplary and typical" is one of the key and urgent contents of military, defense and border defense work in 2024 and the following years, in order to create a solid foundation, striving to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern Border Guard force by 2030.

In recent times, with the focused and unified leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the Border Guard Command, along with the determination and determination of Party committees and commanders at all levels in the entire force, the arrangement and adjustment of the force organization has been vigorously implemented, ensuring strictness, comprehensiveness, focus, key points, and appropriate roadmap, creating a clear change.

Agencies and units in the entire force have reviewed, arranged, and reorganized the organization and staffing in the direction of streamlining, reducing, strengthening, effectiveness, and efficiency, associated with building the Border Guard according to Decision No. 678/QD-BQP, dated February 21, 2024 of the Minister of National Defense promulgating a set of criteria for the Vietnam People's Army to be modern in the new situation; having a synchronous and reasonable organizational structure between components and forces; reducing intermediate units and units to ensure and serve.

Adjusting the organization and staffing of the Border Guard force to ensure the ability to successfully complete assigned tasks; building a Border Guard gradually and modernly, in accordance with the Law on Border Guard of Vietnam.
