Firmly protect territorial sovereignty and national border security
This afternoon (January 22), in the exciting atmosphere of the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people competing to achieve achievements to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025, at the Headquarters of the Border Guard Command, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission visited, worked with, and wished a Happy New Year to officers and soldiers of the Border Guard, according to VNA.
Also attending were General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Secretaries of the Party Central Committee: Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Head of the Central Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung.
At the working session, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of the Border Guard - reported to the General Secretary on the situation and results of work in recent times.
Speaking at the meeting, emphasizing that 2025 is a year filled with important events, General Secretary To Lam suggested continuing to maintain and strengthen the Party's leadership, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of State management in the cause of building, managing and protecting national borders; researching and improving the capacity to advise and organize the implementation of Border Guard work at all levels;
Regularly grasp and correctly assess the security and political situation in border areas, islands, key areas, and traditional and non-traditional security issues, promptly advise and effectively handle situations, avoid being passive and surprised, and firmly protect territorial sovereignty and national border security.
The General Secretary emphasized the need to strongly innovate management thinking, protect territorial sovereignty and national border security; perfect mechanisms, policies and legal systems on building and protecting national borders;
Focus on researching and proposing issues on technology and digital transformation in border and border gate management and protection activities; coordinate in deeply, widely and effectively implementing the National Border Protection Strategy, the Vietnam Border Law, Conclusion No. 99 and related legal documents; focus on seriously implementing Treaties, Protocols, Agreements and Regulations related to territorial border issues.
The General Secretary noted that there must be high political determination and scientific methods to create breakthroughs in building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern Border Guard force to meet the requirements of managing and protecting the national border in the new situation.
Strengthen the synchronous implementation of solutions to build a strong and clean Border Guard Party Committee, a comprehensively strong unit that is "exemplary and typical"; prepare well the conditions to successfully organize Party Congresses at all levels in the Border Guard. At the same time, continue to implement the policy of streamlining the organizational apparatus.
Ensure good logistics and engineering for military, defense and border missions; take care of and ensure good living conditions and health of soldiers; effectively implement the "Military Rear" policy so that both the "front" and "rear" can work with peace of mind.
Building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development
The General Secretary requested to thoroughly grasp and well implement the foreign policy and viewpoints of the Party and State, improve the effectiveness of defense diplomacy, border diplomacy and international cooperation in the field of Border Defense, contribute to ensuring a peaceful environment, maintaining territorial sovereignty, creating favorable conditions for economic, cultural and social development and consolidating and strengthening national defense and security in border areas and islands; be ready to participate in disaster relief and search and rescue activities in neighboring countries and countries around the world when requested;
Prepare and be ready to organize well the Border Defense Friendship Exchange programs with neighboring countries; strengthen and promote Party foreign affairs, Border Defense foreign affairs, and people's foreign affairs in border areas, building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
