This is a meaningful activity to spread the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source", expressing deep gratitude to heroic martyrs on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), and at the same time arousing the responsibility of today's generation in continuing the tradition of patriotism.
Speaking at the program, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, Ms. Bui Huyen Mai affirmed that caring for people with meritorious services to the revolution is always a regular political task of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations of Hanoi City.
Over the past time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City has coordinated to synchronously implement many gratitude activities such as: organizing delegations to visit and give gifts; taking care of and renovating martyrs' cemeteries; supporting the repair of gratitude houses; health consultations, medical examinations, free medicine distribution; organizing incense offering ceremonies, candle lighting ceremonies of gratitude simultaneously in 126 communes and wards; restoring martyrs' portraits and many other practical activities.
In the sacred space at Mai Dich Cemetery and cemeteries, monuments, and martyrs' houses throughout the city, millions of candles and incense sticks of gratitude are simultaneously lit. This is not only a light of gratitude but also a symbol of faith, responsibility and the continuation of revolutionary traditions," Ms. Bui Huyen Mai emphasized.
According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, years will pass, but the sacrifice of the heroic martyrs will forever be a sacred flame illuminating the development path of the nation. With deep gratitude, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front will continue to promote the movement "Gratitude", taking care of the material and spiritual life of policy families and people with meritorious services; promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc, building Hanoi Capital "Constent - Civilized - Modern - Happy".
Representing the youth of the Capital, Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union Nguyen Tien Hung emotionally shared that today's young generation is living in peace thanks to the great sacrifices of previous generations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung, each candle lit in the gratitude night not only expresses sincerity and deep gratitude but also reminds the young generation of the responsibility to follow in the footsteps of their fathers and brothers. The most sacred gratitude needs to be expressed through specific actions, with a spirit of pioneering, creativity, and dedication to the community and the country.
The Capital's youth are determined to continue the spirit of "Three Ready", constantly studying, training, pioneering in scientific research, innovation, actively participating in revolutionary action movements, ready to protect the Fatherland and contribute to building Hanoi to be increasingly civilized, modern, and happy.
At the program, the Organizing Committee presented 130 restored martyrs' portraits and 130 gifts to representatives of families and relatives of martyrs. Immediately after the memorial ceremony, 1,800 union members and youth of the Capital simultaneously offered incense, flowers and lit candles at each martyr's grave.
On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the Hanoi Youth Union continues to implement the project "Restoring Martyrs' Portraits", applying modern technology to restore 210 portraits that have faded over time and present 210 gifts to families and relatives of martyrs in the city.
