On July 29, 2024, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Central Party Committee, Minister of Public Security, sent a commendation letter to the Director of Lai Chau Provincial Police; Superintendent of Lai Chau Provincial Detention Center for praising the brave action of Private Lo Van Thanh in saving two children.
The content of the commendation letter stated:
On July 26, 2024, while helping his family with farm work, Private Lo Van Thanh, a conscripted soldier working at the Lai Chau Provincial Detention Center, heard cries for help from the Ban Chat Hydropower Reservoir area, in Pa Khom village, Pha Mu commune, Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province.
Private Lo Van Thanh, without regard for his own safety, quickly jumped into the deep water to rescue two children (4 years old and 6 years old) who were drowning, bringing them to shore and providing timely first aid; currently, the health of the two children is stable.
The brave and decisive action of Private Lo Van Thanh promptly saved the lives of the two children; at the same time, it demonstrated the spirit of mutual support and solidarity, exemplifying the image and qualities of the People's Public Security officers who do not hesitate to face danger, always ready to protect the lives and health of the people, for the peaceful and happy life of the people.
"On behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee, the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, I commend and praise Private Lo Van Thanh; I propose that the Lai Chau Provincial Police have a deserving form of commendation, recognizing the outstanding achievements of Private Lo Van Thanh, while also doing a good job of propaganda to spread and encourage officers and soldiers to continue to promote the fine traditions of the People's Public Security force - For the country, forget oneself, for the people, serve" - the commendation letter emphasized.
