On the morning of May 18, Nghe An province coordinated with a joint venture of investors to organize the announcement and groundbreaking ceremony of the technical infrastructure of the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant Project.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Doan Minh Huan - Member of the Politburo, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Mr. Le Tien Chau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Khac Than - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Vo Trong Hai - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and representatives of ministries, sectors, and investors.

Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project is located in Tan Mai ward, Nghe An province, with a capacity of 1,500 MW. The project includes a LNG liquefied natural gas thermal power plant, storage warehouse, LNG rechemical gas system with a storage tank of about 250,000 m3 and a specialized port in Dong Hoi wharf area - Nghe An seaport.
The project has a total investment capital of nearly 2.2 billion USD, invested by a consortium of Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation (PV Power), SK Group of Korea and Nghe An Sugar Co., Ltd.
According to the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the project is in the Power Plan VIII, playing an important role in developing clean power sources, energy transition and reducing carbon emissions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai said that the investor's choice of Nghe An to implement a large-scale, modern technology project shows the business's confidence in the province's investment environment.
Leaders of Nghe An province emphasized that the project not only supplements a stable power source for the national power system but also opens up a new development space for the northern region of the province, creating growth momentum for Nghe An and the North Central region.
When put into operation, the project is expected to promote the development of industry, services, logistics, seaport infrastructure; create jobs, increase budget revenue and improve the local investment attraction capacity.
Nghe An province requests the joint venture of investors to focus financial resources, human resources, and technology to implement the project on schedule; complete relevant procedures, ensuring the plant is put into operation for power generation in 2030.
Contractors are required to strictly comply with technical standards, ensure quality, project safety, labor safety and fully implement environmental regulations.
At the ceremony, delegates performed the ceremony of pressing the button to announce and start the technical infrastructure of the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant Project.
