On September 11, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Giang Thanh Khoa had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Meynardo LB. Montealegre - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines - and his delegation.
At the meeting, Mr. Giang Thanh Khoa - Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee - informed that, besides agricultural economy, Kien Giang has 4 key tourist areas including Phu Quoc, Ha Tien - Kien Luong, Rach Gia - Kien Hai, U Minh Thuong, especially Phu Quoc island tourism with a system of famous entertainment areas.
In recent times, Kien Giang province and the Philippines have cooperated in areas such as trade and education with many good results. Currently, Kien Giang has 4 enterprises with export cooperation relationships through the Philippine market with an export turnover of 13.25 million USD in the first 6 months of 2024. In 2023, Kien Giang University signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance scientific and teaching cooperation under the lecturer and student exchange program with Sorsogon State University, Philippines...
Mr. Giang Thanh Khoa emphasized that in the coming time, Kien Giang province wishes to work with the Embassy to promote cooperation between Kien Giang and the Philippines in some areas such as: introducing and connecting businesses in Kien Giang province and businesses in the Philippines to introduce products and seek business cooperation opportunities. Strengthening cooperation in exporting some of Kien Giang province's strengths to the Philippines market and vice versa. Promoting cooperation, investment in tourism and training of human resources to provide tourism services, supporting tourism promotion in Kien Giang province. Cooperating in sharing experiences in aquaculture at sea, especially aquatic products with economic value; exploiting aquatic products, protecting and developing aquatic resources...
Mr. Meynardo LB. Montealegre thanked the leaders of Kien Giang province for their warm and respectful reception and shared the heavy losses and damages caused by storm Yagi in Vietnam.
The Ambassador affirmed that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Philippines are growing stronger, especially in the context of the two countries aiming to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership in 2025 and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026. Mr. Meynardo LB. Montealegre also committed to acting as a bridge to introduce the advantages and investment opportunities of Kien Giang province to Philippine businesses and vice versa. He is also ready to support, introduce and connect colleges and universities between Kien Giang province and the Philippines to cooperate in scientific research and education and training.
