Within the framework of the series of events of the 2nd Honorary Consulate Conference of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (July 28-31, 2026), on July 29, 2026, a working delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, along with Vietnamese Ambassadors abroad, Vietnamese Honorary Consuls abroad and leaders of a number of units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, paid a visit, worked and conducted field surveys in Hai Phong city.
Receiving and working with the delegation were Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Do Thanh Trung, Vice Chairman of City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong and leaders of departments, agencies, branches and localities.
At the working session, Chairman of the City People's Committee Do Thanh Trung introduced the outstanding socio-economic development achievements of Hai Phong. With the role of a growth pole of the Northern Key Economic Region, maintaining a double-digit growth rate for 11 consecutive years and an expanded development space after the merger, Hai Phong is aiming to become a modern international port city, developing a smart port ecosystem and green logistics.
City leaders expressed their wish that Ambassadors and Honorary Consuls continue to promote their role as a bridge, contributing to promoting Hai Phong's investment environment, attracting projects in the fields of high technology, semiconductor, green energy and innovation.
Vietnamese Ambassadors abroad and Honorary Consuls attending the program expressed their impression of Hai Phong's dynamic development, modern infrastructure system and favorable investment environment, and affirmed its role as a bridge to promote substantive cooperation between foreign localities and Vietnam, especially Hai Phong with its position as a major gateway to the North of Vietnam.
In addition, the Honorary Consuls affirmed that they will strive to promote a network of reputable partners in the locality, ready to accompany, connect and bring international corporations and investors to survey and seek specific cooperation opportunities with the locality.
In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited the VinFast automobile production complex in Hai Phong. The field survey helped the Honorary Consuls better understand Vietnam's production capacity, technological level as well as the investment and business environment, thereby contributing to promoting the image of a dynamic, innovative and integrated Vietnam.
Concluding the program in Hai Phong, the delegation moved to Quang Ninh province to attend the official sessions of the 2nd Honorary Consular Conference of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, taking place on July 30, 2026.
