Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov proposed that the Vietnamese side consider opening a Consulate General in Kazan, Russia.

Within the framework of his visit to the Russian Federation to attend the ASEAN - Russia 35th Anniversary Summit, on the afternoon of June 16 (local time), Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung met with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in Kazan city.

The head of the Republic of Tatarstan said that in the past time, relations between localities of the two countries have been very vibrant, but the level and contribution to bilateral economic and trade development have not yet been commensurate with the potential and needs of each country, and there is still much room for localities of the two countries to effectively implement cooperation.

Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan wishes to establish relations with localities of Vietnam, not only introducing development models but also connecting businesses to seek cooperation opportunities.

Expressing his desire to welcome more Vietnamese tourists to Tatarstan and contribute to strengthening understanding between the people of Russia and Vietnam, Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov proposed that Vietnam consider opening a Consulate General in Kazan.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung expressed his pleasure to visit Kazan City, Republic of Tatarstan, and highly appreciated the fact that the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan City have prepared carefully for the ASEAN-Russia Summit on a large scale and with the participation of a large number of leaders and experts from countries; believing that the conference will create momentum to further strongly promote the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership in general and the relationship between ASEAN member countries, including Vietnam and Russia.

The Prime Minister reiterated that within the framework of the official visit to Russia and attending the Ceremony to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of General Secretary To Lam (May 2025), the highest leaders of the two countries reached a common understanding and determination to comprehensively enhance mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in all fields, in accordance with the requirements of the new era of development.

Affirming that in that process, localities and businesses play a very important role, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung said that Vietnam is interested in cooperating with key industrial enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Vietnamese Government is committed to creating all favorable conditions for Russian businesses, including Tatarstan businesses, to do business and do business long-term and stably in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister thanked the government of the Republic of Tatarstan and Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov personally for always paying attention, prioritizing, and creating extremely favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Tatarstan, and welcomed the fact that in the coming time, the Republic of Tatarstan will find a suitable Vietnamese locality to establish relations and seek cooperation opportunities in areas where the two sides have strengths and needs such as economy - trade, education - training, tourism, culture. The Prime Minister also encouraged airlines of the two countries to pay attention to developing more commercial routes connecting Kazan with Hanoi.
