The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that from August 28-31, 2024, a working delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, led by Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang, had activities in the states of Texas and California, USA.
On August 29, the delegation attended the Vietnam National Day Celebration organized by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston. Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam's development path has always been marked by the good feelings and support of friends around the world, including the US, and highly appreciated the US's continued support for a strong, independent, self-reliant and prosperous Vietnam.
On August 30, the delegation attended the Flag Raising Ceremony to celebrate Vietnam's National Day at San Francisco City Hall. Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her emotion at witnessing the moment the Vietnamese flag flew over City Hall, saying that this was a clear demonstration of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the US in general, and the City of San Francisco in particular.
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also received the Proclamation signed by the Mayor of San Francisco announcing September 2, 2024 as Vietnam - US Friendship Heritage Day in the city and county of San Francisco in 2024.
At the ceremonies, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the development of the Vietnamese community in the US in general and in the states of Texas and California in particular; was delighted with the integration, success and outstanding contributions of the community to the host society; and thanked the sentiments and contributions of the people to the homeland and country.
On August 31, the delegation met with a group of young overseas Vietnamese experts working at large technology and financial corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area such as Apple, Microsoft, Meta, LinkedIn, Lucid, Boston Consultin Group, Deloitte, Biamarin...
Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated the fact that young experts and intellectuals have initially achieved success in their home countries and always turn their attention to the country; shared the concerns of overseas Vietnamese; acknowledged the proposals and said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with ministries and branches to actively promote the removal of obstacles, creating an increasingly favorable environment for young overseas experts to contribute to the country.
In Houston and San Francisco, the delegation also met and visited a number of overseas Vietnamese who have been with the country for many years and have made many contributions to the development of Vietnam - US relations , contributing to promoting positive changes so that the Vietnamese community in the US can increasingly understand and connect with the country.
