TTXVN reported that at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his gratitude to President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Ambassadors, staff of the Embassy and Consulate General of the United States in Vietnam and many organizations, institutions, and people of the United States who sent their deepest condolences upon the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This is not only a significant encouragement but also a testament to the increasingly developed and excellent comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia reviewed the achievements of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly since the historic visit of former General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the United States in July 2015 and the visit of President Joe Biden to Vietnam in September 2023.
Emphasizing some achievements in cooperation on trade-investment, culture, education-training, people-to-people exchange, particularly in science, technology, and innovation, which is considered a breakthrough in Vietnam-US relations, the Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education proposed that the United States continue to support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources in the field of semiconductors; create favorable conditions for cooperation between universities, technology institutes, and trade organizations in the two countries, including the National Innovation Center of Vietnam.
Confirming that the United States is always considered a strategic partner of great importance and that Vietnam-US relations have entered a new chapter, actively and full of promise, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia hoped that the US Ambassador and the US Embassy in Vietnam would continue to serve as a bridge to promote party-to-party relations, contributing to increasing mutual understanding and trust, and thus developing the relations between the two countries in a stable, substantial, and profound manner, based on the principles already agreed upon, including respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political system.
US Ambassador Marc Knapper stated that the relevant agencies and ministries of the two countries are working closely together to implement the Joint Statement of the leaders of the two countries upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as concretizing the Implementation Plan. In the future, it is hoped that the two sides will have many activities to deepen the results achieved and continue to promote areas with great cooperation potential.
The two sides agreed that 2025 is a year of great significance, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's reunification, the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-US normalization of relations, and providing an opportunity for the two countries to jointly recognize the long strides made, from historical depth to the present and towards the future.
The two sides reaffirmed that the good relationship between the two countries is based on the legitimate aspirations of the people of the two countries, the realization of the vision, goals, and efforts of the leaders of the two countries, both in history and in the present.
The Vietnam-US relationship will be a driving force for prosperity and security in one of the most important regions in the world, for peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development.
