On March 30, the People's Council (HĐND) of An Giang province, term XI, opened the First Session - the opening session for the activities of the Provincial People's Council in the new term 2026-2031.
At the meeting, the election of positions of the An Giang Provincial People's Council of the XI term was organized; election of the chairman, vice chairmen of the Provincial People's Council, heads of committees of the Provincial People's Council; establishment of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities; election of the chairman, vice chairman, member of the Provincial People's Committee; election of people's assessors.

As a result, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Council of An Giang province, term XI, 2026-2031.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan was born in 1977, native of Tan Hiep district, Kien Giang province (old). Professional qualifications Construction Engineer, Doctor of Agricultural Economics; Senior political qualifications.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan held the positions of: Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Council.
The meeting also elected the titles of Chairman, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and members of the People's Committee. As a result, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Member of the Party Central Committee, was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2026-2031 term.

Mr. Ho Van Mung was born in 1977, native of Khanh Hoa province. Political theory qualifications: Advanced, professional qualifications: Doctor of Economic Management, Bachelor of Science in Foreign Languages.
Mr. Ho Van Mung used to hold the position of Secretary of Nha Trang City Party Committee, term 2020-2025, then was transferred, assigned, and appointed to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee term 2021-2026.
In addition, at the meeting, 5 Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee and 16 members of the Provincial People's Committee were also elected.
