This afternoon (December 6), at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong had a friendly meeting with a delegation of outstanding elderly women representing over 9 million elderly women nationwide in the movement to build cultural, prosperous and happy families, selected and honored by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.
Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee: President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen; Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha; Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Pham Tat Thang.
Speaking at the meeting, President Luong Cuong emphasized that the great contributions of Vietnamese women have contributed to creating the immortal epic of the country and Vietnamese people in combat, embellishing and weaving the heroic and glorious history of our nation.
During the period of innovation, construction, development of the country and protection of the Fatherland, the success of women in production, business, scientific research, sports, culture, arts; building cultured, prosperous, happy families... has continued to glorify Vietnam, beautifying the image of a country aspiring for prosperity, happiness, peace, humanity; determined to build an increasingly better society, always worthy of the eight golden words that Uncle Ho awarded "Heroic, indomitable, loyal, courageous".
The President said that when mentioning Vietnamese elderly women, everyone always respects and is proud not only because of their noble and sacred role as grandmothers, wives, and mothers, but also because of their good qualities, great contributions and sacrifices. Despite their old age and weak health, they continue to contribute, pass on life experiences, and take care of and educate their children and grandchildren to become good people.
Emphasizing that the country is facing a new opportunity to enter a new era - an era of striving for prosperity and well-being of the nation, the President said that this great goal can only come true when we strongly promote the great national unity bloc, with the joint efforts and unanimity of the entire Party, people and army, including women and the elderly.
Our Party and State always promote the work of caring for the elderly, including elderly women, considering this a very important resource to ensure social security and national development.
The President believes that elderly women will continue to uphold the proud tradition of Vietnamese women and the elderly, uphold the spirit of "Old age - Bright example", "Old age, strong will", actively contribute ideas to build the Party's policies and guidelines, State laws and policies, build families, society and the country to be stronger, more prosperous, civilized and happy.
