At the meeting, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang reported to General Secretary and President To Lam and the working delegation on the damage and work to overcome the impact of storm No. 3 Yagi in the province.
According to preliminary reports, the impact of storm No. 3 in Phu Tho province left 2 people dead, 7 injured, 9 missing, over 6,800 households had to be urgently evacuated due to flooding and landslides; many areas of rice, crops, aquaculture and dyke works, irrigation works, infrastructure works were affected... Total estimated damage value is over 250 billion VND.
At the meeting, Phu Tho province proposed that the Central Government consider and direct the Ministry of Transport to invest in building a new bridge to replace the collapsed Phong Chau bridge, provide financial support for Phu Tho to upgrade key dykes, support the province to overcome storm damage and provide equipment for rescue work.
Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims and sympathized with the damage caused by storm No. 3 to Phu Tho in particular and the northern provinces in general.
General Secretary and President To Lam praised and highly appreciated Phu Tho’s proactiveness and positivity in grasping and promptly directing the implementation of measures to prevent, combat and overcome the consequences of storm No. 3; at the same time, he praised the army, police and militia forces for promptly supporting people during the storm and flood, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.
At the same time, General Secretary and President To Lam requested Phu Tho to continue implementing measures to overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 3, continue to closely monitor weather developments, review key projects and vulnerable locations to proactively respond and minimize the consequences caused by natural disasters. The top goal is to ensure safety and help people stabilize production soon.
Regarding the recommendations of Phu Tho province, General Secretary and President To Lam assigned the Party Central Committee, the Government, and the Ministry of Transport to deploy the construction of a new bridge to replace Phong Chau bridge, completing it as soon as possible, ensuring the trade of goods and the travel of people. At the same time, balancing resources, implementing support according to other recommendations of Phu Tho province.
At the meeting, under the witness of General Secretary and President To Lam, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien presented a plaque symbolizing the donation of 30 billion VND mobilized and donated by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to Phu Tho province to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3.
On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam also presented 100 gifts to people in the province affected by storm No. 3.
