According to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - has just chaired a meeting of the Minister of National Defense to discuss the work of building military ships and some key tasks of the General Department of Defense Industry (General Department of National Defense).
At this meeting, representatives of the General Department of Military Command reported on the construction of military ships and key tasks in the production of technical weapons and equipment.
Many opinions were exchanged, discussed, commented and proposed solutions to maximize capacity, speed up construction progress, add military ships and technical equipment, ensuring to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
Notably, information at the meeting said that in recent years, the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense have always paid attention to the task of protecting the Fatherland at sea; directed the synchronous implementation of tasks and solutions to strengthen national defense and security combined with the development of the marine economy;
At the same time, focus resources on purchasing, building new, and adding modern warships, patrol ships, and support ships to equip the military forces to ensure combat capability, combat readiness, and firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
Currently, the construction and development of the national defense industry in general and the shipbuilding industry in particular in the direction of " proactive, self-reliant, self-reliant, dual-use, modernity" has had clear development steps, meeting the requirements of ensuring technical equipment and weapons for the Army, ready to respond to situations.
The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have resolutely led and directed the development and implementation of many projects and projects to improve quality, synthesis strength, timely supplementation of equipment for forces serving patrol missions, combat readiness; creating a solid national defense posture at sea in the fight to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland combined with the development of the marine economy.
To meet the requirements of the tasks in the coming time, especially in the period of 2026 - 2030, General Phan Van Giang requested agencies and units to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the resolutions, conclusions, programs and plans of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense on promoting the development of industrial parks, making breakthroughs in science and technology, rearranging enterprises, investing to improve the potential of industrial parks; focusing on the Plan of the Ministry of National Defense to implement the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 08 of the Politburo.
At the same time, further improve the effectiveness of research and testing of new weapons, focus on implementing research and successfully producing modern and high-tech weapons and equipment of strategic significance; effectively mobilize resources, synchronously deploy solutions to promote research, master the underlying technology, core technology, increase the localization rate in all types of technical weapons and equipment produced by Vietnam.
