During the official visit to the Russian Federation and co-chairing the 3rd meeting of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, on September 10 (local time), in Moscow, the Russian Federation, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Mr. Vitaly Markelov - Vice President of Gazprom Group, according to the National Assembly Office.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man assessed that in recent times, Gazprom Group - a powerful energy group of the Russian Federation - has effectively cooperated with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group in the fields of oil and gas, energy production and exploitation.
Appreciating the joint venture of the two corporations that has effectively implemented projects in both the Russian Federation and Vietnam, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always protects the legitimate rights of investors, and the National Assembly and the Government always accompany foreign enterprises, ensuring stable and long-term operations in Vietnam.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the more difficult it is, the more necessary it is to promote cooperation and association to ensure mutual benefits, bringing the Vietnam - Russian Federation comprehensive strategic partnership to more substantial results.
The National Assembly Chairman stated that within its authority, the Vietnamese National Assembly will try to create the most favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation.
Stating that the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation is still very large, but two-way trade in the first 6 months of this year only reached 2.7 billion USD, the National Assembly Chairman said that cooperation in oil and gas projects will contribute to realizing the goal of two-way trade turnover reaching 10 billion USD by 2030.
Emphasizing that energy is one of the pillar areas of cooperation in the Vietnam - Russian Federation bilateral relationship and needs to be promoted more strongly in the coming time.
Gazprom Group Vice President Vitaly Markelov thanked the Vietnamese National Assembly for its support in recent times in promoting the group's cooperation with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group in the fields of exploration, exploitation, and scientific and technical research;
Emphasizing that Gazprom Group wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam and this is a favorable time for both sides to move forward, including the supply of LNG to serve the economic and social development needs of Vietnam.
Gazprom Group leaders also said they are ready to share experiences with partners, including Petro Vietnam, in oil and gas exploration and exploitation.
Gazprom Group Vice President Vitaly Markelov believes that the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
