The National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 1677/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Quang Ngai province in 2025.
After the arrangement, Quang Ngai province has 96 commune-level administrative units, including 86 communes, 9 wards and 1 special zone.
Of which, there are 81 communes, 9 wards, 1 special area formed after the arrangement and 5 communes that do not carry out the arrangement are Dak Long commune (Dak Glei district), Ba Xa, Ro Koi, Mo Rai, Ia Da.
In addition to the above communes, newly formed communes include Tinh Khe commune; An Phu commune; Nguyen Nghiem commune; Khanh Cuong commune; Binh Minh commune; Binh Chuong commune; Binh Son commune; Van Tuong commune; Dong Son commune; Truong Giang commune; Ba Gia commune; Son Tinh commune; Tho Phong commune; Tu Nghia commune; Ve Giang commune; Nghia Giang commune; Tra Giang commune; Nghia Hanh commune.

After the arrangement of Quang Ngai province, there are 9 new wards named after Truong Quang Trong ward; Cam Thanh ward; Nghia Lo ward; Tra Cau ward; Duc Pho ward; Sa Huynh ward; Kon Tum ward; Dak Cam ward; Dak Bla ward.
After the arrangement, Quang Ngai province has a special zone called Ly Son special zone.
The Resolution clearly states that competent agencies urgently carry out necessary preparations to ensure that local authorities in commune-level administrative units formed after the arrangement officially operate from July 1, 2025.
At the same time, local authorities in commune-level administrative units before the reorganization will continue to operate until the local government in commune-level administrative units is formed after the reorganization and officially operates.
The Government, the People's Council, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, local authorities, administrative units related to the implementation of the arrangement and other relevant agencies and organizations are responsible for organizing the implementation of this Resolution.
Arrange and stabilize the apparatus of local agencies and organizations; stabilize the lives of local people, ensure the requirements of socio-economic development, national defense and security in the area.
The Resolution also assigns the Government, based on this Resolution and Project No. 362/DA-CP dated May 9, 2025 of the Government, to organize the accurate determination of the natural area of commune-level administrative units and make it public before September 30, 2025.
At the same time, urgently deploy the work of measuring and determining the boundary scope of administrative units on the field to prepare documents on the boundary of administrative units according to regulations.
This Resolution takes effect from June 16, 2025.
