On the evening of December 1, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation attended a series of events on oil and gas and renewable energy, organized by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and the Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) in Vung Tau City.
Notable activities include: the launching and handover ceremony of the Greater Changhua 2B & 4 offshore wind power project base; groundbreaking ceremony of the transformer stations - Baltica 2 project; groundbreaking ceremony of the central technology platform - Block B project; signing of project contracts, contracts for manufacturing and supplying offshore wind power base... The series of events marked the special and meaningful achievements that the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group has achieved in recent times.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the achievements of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, especially in 2024, which have ignited the confidence and aspirations of oil and gas workers to overcome difficult times. In the coming time, the group and oil and gas workers need to make more efforts to complete the assigned tasks.
In particular, focusing on the task of developing offshore wind power, renewable energy... Moving towards forming a Vietnamese energy group, not just oil and gas; contributing to ensuring national energy security.
"Comrades need to make further breakthroughs, be more innovative, be stronger, surpass yourselves to develop. Unite to develop together, bring common benefits, and achieve the set goals," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh encouraged the oil and gas industry.
According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the country's growth in 2024 is estimated to reach 7%, while the energy sector will achieve growth of 12-13%. And to contribute to achieving the common goals of the country set by the Party and State next year, the oil and gas industry needs to set a growth target of 15-20%, which is the task assigned to the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group next year.
To do this, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group needs to quickly transfer and master technology; train human resources, develop infrastructure... to soon form a renewable energy industry. At the same time, restructure the organization's management according to a new model, capital, and production to achieve the best development results.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries and branches, according to their functions and tasks, to continue to develop, concretize, and perfect regulations and other necessary conditions in the spirit of "unleashing businesses" to support development. Ba Ria - Vung Tau province was assigned to build a renewable energy center and an offshore wind power center; and must be ready and create conditions for wind power businesses to develop.
"Green transformation, digital transformation and circular energy are new growth drivers and irreversible trends. These are objective requirements, strategic choices and our priorities in developing the country quickly and sustainably," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized.
