This is the third time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directly visited the construction site to urge the project's progress.
The Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 project is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), with a total investment of more than VND 10,986 billion.
The project has a scale of 1 basement, 4 floors, floor area of 112,500m2, meeting the capacity to serve 20 million passengers/year, equivalent to 7,000 passengers/peak hour.
Construction started in August 2023 and the project is now about 83% complete.
According to the original plan, the station was expected to be completed in July 2025, but with the current progress, the project will be completed about three months early, ready to be put into operation on April 30, 2025 - the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
According to ACV, key items such as bridges, elevator systems, escalators, telescopic bridges, baggage conveyors, screening machines, etc. are all being accelerated and are expected to be completed in February 2025.

After inspecting the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the determination of the construction units and local authorities. The Prime Minister acknowledged the spirit of “only working, no backtracking”, with hundreds of workers working tirelessly throughout Tet, working in a “3-shift, 4-shift” model to ensure progress.
The Prime Minister also praised Ho Chi Minh City for quickly completing connecting traffic routes, the Ministry of National Defense for supporting timely site clearance, and the consensus of the people in giving up land for the project.
“We can be proud that after 16 months we have overcome many difficulties and obstacles, worked through Tet, and completed the project early. This is valuable experience that helps ACV confidently implement other important infrastructure projects, including Long Thanh airport,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

To ensure the station's operation on schedule, the Prime Minister requested the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Ministry of National Defense to closely coordinate in relocating the Command Center of the 370th Air Division. This land will be handed over to develop the traffic system and landscape infrastructure around the station. The relocation must be completed by February 2025.
In addition, the Prime Minister also directed relevant units to quickly complete items such as parking lots, overpasses, aircraft parking lots, air conditioning systems, lighting, fire prevention and fighting, wastewater and waste treatment... to ensure the terminal meets modern, safe, green, clean and beautiful standards.
In addition to speeding up the progress, the Prime Minister noted that ACV and management agencies should calculate a reasonable exploitation plan for all three terminals T1, T2, and T3 to ensure fairness, transparency, and create healthy competition among airlines. This is to optimize Tan Son Nhat airport's capacity, reduce the load on the two existing terminals, and improve passenger experience.
