On December 27, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and contractors signed a competition agreement to complete the project within 120 days and nights, with the goal of exceeding the schedule to put the project into operation on April 30, 2025, 2 months earlier than the original plan.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet - Deputy General Director in charge of ACV, the T3 Terminal project has achieved many important advances in terms of progress, construction quality and ensuring labor safety.
Currently, the rough construction of the project has been completed. The architectural finishing, interior finishing and equipment installation items are being accelerated. The entire project's electrical system has been closed, the expanded aircraft parking area has been exploited, and the interior finishing works are in the final stage.
“I request the Project Management Board and contractors to focus all resources and synchronously deploy solutions to speed up the equipment installation progress, ensuring that the operation and acceptance work is carried out safely, with quality and according to requirements. We must be determined to complete the project and put it into operation on April 30, 2025 as committed,” said Mr. Viet.
The T3 Terminal Project has a total investment of VND10,990 billion, including 4 main items: passenger terminal, multi-storey car park integrated with non-aviation services, overpass system in front of the terminal and aircraft parking lot. The capital for the project comes from ACV's equity and commercial loans.
According to Mr. Le Khac Hong - Head of the Project Management Board, the biggest challenge of the 120-day competition is the fact that there are only about 90 days left to complete the entire project, including the Lunar New Year holiday, making it difficult to mobilize enough personnel and materials.
"Completing the project on schedule requires high determination from the contractors' leaders, flexibility in solving financial, human resources and material difficulties. At the same time, the construction management board must closely monitor and promptly handle any problems arising during the construction process," Mr. Hong emphasized.
When completed, T3 passenger terminal will be the largest domestic passenger terminal in the country with 20 million people, increasing the total capacity of Tan Son Nhat airport to 50 million passengers per year, along with the existing T1 and T2 terminals.
The architecture of T3 terminal is inspired by the traditional ao dai. The terminal is designed into two separate departure and arrival sections, with 90 check-in counters, 20 automatic bagdrop counters, 42 check-in kiosks, 27 boarding gates, 6 departure baggage handling islands and 10 arrival baggage return islands...
