In early November, workers were urgently installing glass walls on the passenger terminal floors, with the goal of completing this item by the end of the year.
Mr. Le Dang Bien - a 45-year-old worker - participating in the project, shared: "This is an important project of the city, so everyone is trying their best to complete the station and put it into use soon."
Inside Terminal 3, the steel frame and roof structure have been installed. Currently, contractors are completing items such as ceilings, installing glass walls and paving stone floors.
The passenger waiting area, check-in counter and security screening areas also have completed the structural frame.
The terminal has 90 traditional airline check-in counters, 20 automatic bagdrop counters and 42 check-in kiosks, 27 boarding gates (including 13 telescopic gates and 14 bus gates), 6 departure baggage handling islands and 10 arrival baggage return islands, and 25 security control gates.
The overpass system at the station is under construction and is expected to be closed by the end of December and completed in February next year. The auxiliary systems such as elevators and escalators are expected to be completed by December this year.
Contractors are actively deploying equipment and machinery systems for items such as air conditioning ducts, fire protection and water supply and drainage. More than 90% of this work has been completed on the B2 floors of the commercial building, as well as the B1 floors and the 1st floor of the passenger terminal.
Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport is expected to be completed on April 30, 2025, two months ahead of schedule.
When put into operation, this will be the largest domestic terminal in the country with a capacity to serve 20 million passengers per year, helping to increase the total capacity of Tan Son Nhat airport to 50 million passengers per year.
Mr. Le Khac Hong - Head of T3 Terminal Project Management Board - said that after nearly 2 years since the start of construction in December 2022, the total workload has reached about 75%, with most of the main items having completed the structural part.
“The entire project must be completed before the inauguration date on April 30, 2025, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. To achieve this goal, the investor and contractors are launching a 90-day and night competition, with the determination to complete the entire roof, facade glass and power the project,” said Mr. Le Khac Hong.
Currently, more than 2,500 engineers and workers along with hundreds of equipment and machines have been mobilized to work continuously 24/7 to ensure progress.
To enhance connectivity with Terminal T3, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project and expanding Hoang Hoa Tham Street.
Of which, the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project is more than 4 km long, with a total investment of over 4,800 billion VND, and will be completed by the end of 2024.
The project to expand Hoang Hoa Tham Street, from the military barracks gate to Cong Hoa Street, with a total investment of nearly 300 billion VND, is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
