In 2024, Vietnam will become the third largest source of goods supplies to the Lao market, after Thailand and China. In that context, logistics plays a key role in ensuring an efficient supply chain.
As the largest port operator in Vietnam, Tan Port Saigon has pioneered in building an effective supply chain, supporting the implementation of many cooperation projects on seaports, enhancing logistics connections, especially for super-old and super-heavy goods projects.
These efforts not only aim to enhance trade connectivity, but also contribute to building a modern and sustainable logistics ecosystem, affirming the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Speaking at the meeting, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone said: The Vietnamese Government has created conditions for Laos to exploit and operate at Vung Ang port, which shows high support for Laos, helping Laos from a landlocked country to have a road to the sea, contributing to impressive growth in trade turnover between the two countries, especially in the field of agricultural, mineral and electricity exports.
According to Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, that result has a very important contribution from Vietnamese defense and security enterprises, especially Saigon New Port Corporation, which has organized many activities such as trade connection seminars with domestic and foreign enterprises operating in Laos, and deploying Lao freight transport vehicles at Vung Ang port. Laos highly appreciates the model of military enterprises participating in Vietnam's economic development.
Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone added: "Currently, Laos is also in the process of implementing the economic policy of independence and self-reliance. This visit to Saigon New Port helps us learn and learn from experience in port management and operation and logistics services, contributing to the further development of import and export of goods. To achieve that, we hope that the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of National Defense will pay attention, monitor and direct the contents of cooperation to achieve efficiency, especially the effective exploitation of Vung Ang Lao - Vietnam port between the Lao and Vietnamese governments as committed".
