Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends the World Cultural Heritage Announcement Ceremony in Yen Tu

Quang Ninh - On the evening of August 17, at the Yen Tu Relic Site and Scenic Landscape Complex, the Ceremony to Announce the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments Complex as a World Cultural Heritage took place.

Attending the program were Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; delegates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Government Office; Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO; UNESCO Office in Vietnam; leaders of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh provinces; consulting units to build the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son Relic Complex and Scenic Landscape Document...

Speaking here, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and commended the Party Committee, Government and people of the provinces: Quang Ninh, Bac Giang (now Bac Ninh province), Hai Duong province (now Hai Phong city), ministries, branches, central agencies, units and individuals who have closely coordinated and synchronously implemented solutions, overcome difficulties to research, build, complete documents, organize the successful promotion and protection of the nomination dossier for the Yen Tu Monument and Scenic Landscape List listed by UNESCO.

After 11 years since Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2014, up to now, Vietnam has had the 9th World Heritage Site, Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son Relic Complex, Kiep Bac.

The Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiep Bac Monuments and Scenes Complex dossier is the first nomination dossier in Vietnam to be implemented in the form of a series of heritages, with a very new approach in Vietnam, inter-provincial with relic sites located in a large area with complex terrain of hills, rivers and streams. However, the dossier has been meticulously and methodically built with high quality.

The Prime Minister also respectfully thanked UNESCO, international organizations and member countries for supporting UNESCO in recognizing Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments Complex as a World Cultural Heritage.

To continue protecting and promoting outstanding global values of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiep Bac relic complex and scenic spots, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Ninh province to continue to preside over and coordinate with Bac Ninh province and Hai Phong city to implement a number of specific tasks as follows:

Advising the Government to complete and supplement legal documents, regulations and rules at the national and local levels to be able to fully protect all aspects of the inter-provincial world heritage.

Specifically regulate the role and responsibilities of the world heritage management apparatus at relevant agencies at the central level and local authorities at all levels in coordination with the community in protecting inter-provincial heritage.

Develop management plans in accordance with the participation of ministries, branches, central agencies and provinces and cities. Assign Quang Ninh province as the agency in charge of construction and implementation.

Linking activities to preserve and promote the value of world heritage in close connection with other tangible cultural heritages and intangible cultural heritages in the region. These activities always aim to meet UNESCO's sustainable development goals and need to be applied systematically.

On behalf of the three provinces and cities: Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong, Mr. Pham Duc An - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province - respectfully thanked the attention, leadership and direction of the Party and State leaders and seriously received and concretized the profound and comprehensive instructions and orientations of the Prime Minister on promoting, preserving and spreading the unique values of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments Complex; respectfully thanked the central ministries, departments, branches, experts, scientists and international organizations for always accompanying during the time of building and protecting the Heritage nomination dossier.

After the announcement ceremony, the Special Art Program to celebrate the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son Relic and Scenic Landscape Complex, Kiep Bac was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage, with the theme "Yen Tu sound - A thousand-year heritage" at Minh Tam Square, Yen Tu Relic and Scenic Landscape Area.

It is expected that the ceremony to award the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Certificate to the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiep Bac Monument and Scenic Landscape Complex will be solemnly held in December 2025 in Quang Ninh.
