On the afternoon of December 8, in Tay Ninh province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a working session with the provincial leaders on the socio-economic development situation, ensuring national defense and security in 2025 and orienting tasks in the coming time.
Also attending were General Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; members of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son; Minister, Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son and leaders of central and provincial ministries and branches.

According to the report at the meeting, after being established under Resolution 202/2025/QH15 on the basis of merging the former Long An and Tay Ninh provinces, Tay Ninh province currently has an area of 8,536 km2, a population of about 3.25 million people, 96 commune-level administrative units and a 369 km border bordering Cambodia. Located in the Southeast region, Tay Ninh holds a strategic position in terms of national defense and security, being the gateway connecting the Southeast with the Central Highlands, the Mekong Delta and the trans-Asia economic corridor.
The province has great potential for border gate economy, logistics and industrial expansion; 4 international border gates, 1 international port; planning 59 industrial parks (16,800 ha) and 3 border gate economic zones (more than 68,500 ha). Favorable climate conditions, few natural disasters; abundant fresh water resources; large land funds for industry - agriculture; people need to be diligent and affectionate.
In 2025, Tay Ninh's growth rate is estimated to reach 9.52%, ranking 2nd in the Southern region (after Ho Chi Minh City) and 8th in the country. 12-month budget revenue reached VND47.7 trillion (128.3% of the estimate), estimated for the whole year at over VND49 trillion. Agriculture has grown well; industry - construction has maintained its growth momentum; trade - services are vibrant; import-export turnover reached 25.67 billion USD; tourism welcomed 7.1 million visitors.
Public investment disbursement reached 70.9%, striving to complete 100% of the plan. The province has attracted more than 1,900 FDI projects with a total capital of 24.39 billion USD. National defense and security are strengthened; political security, social order and safety are ensured; foreign cooperation with the three provinces bordering Cambodia continues to be strengthened. The two-level government model operates stably, and commune-level public administrative centers operate effectively.
In his concluding remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged the efforts of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Tay Ninh, and assessed the province as having enough "time, land, and humanity" with a rare strategic position. In addition, the Prime Minister pointed out the shortcomings: strategic infrastructure has not met requirements; agricultural product consumption is difficult; site clearance is still stuck; lack of high-quality human resources; digital transformation, innovation have not created breakthroughs...

The Prime Minister requested Tay Ninh to promote solidarity, revolutionary traditions, effectively exploit potential and outstanding opportunities to accelerate development, towards double-digit growth, while improving people's lives. The locality needs to promote the development of social housing, care for disadvantaged people, orphans, and meritorious families; remove backlogs; strengthen cooperation with Cambodia and develop the border gate economy.
The Prime Minister suggested that the province closely coordinate with ministries and branches to ensure macroeconomic stability, control inflation, effectively implement 3 strategic breakthroughs and implement 10 strategic resolutions of the Politburo. The province needs to complete the 2021-2030 period planning (adjusted) in January 2026, strongly improve the investment environment, promote public-private cooperation, and attract all social resources.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to speed up the progress of key energy projects, especially Long An I and II LNG Thermal Power Plants; resolutely disburse public investment; review and adjust planning; deploy the route connecting Long An in the past and Tay Ninh in the past; promote the advantage of bordering Ho Chi Minh City to promote rapid and sustainable socio-economic development.
