At the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the spirit of working through Tet at the Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway construction site, asking the contractor to increase productivity, increase shifts, and speed up further to open the vital expressway from Cao Bang, Lang Son to Ca Mau in 2025. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is of strategic significance and an important political task.
During the inspection, after listening to proposals and recommendations from localities and relevant units, the Prime Minister immediately decided on a number of important issues.
In particular, it is necessary to immediately invest in phase 2 of this expressway up to Tra Linh, with 4 complete lanes to limit traffic accidents as has happened many times on the Cam Lo - Tuy Loan expressway due to only 2 lanes.
At the same time, investing immediately will help save costs. This was proven when the Prime Minister inspected phase 1 of the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway in January 2023 and decided to invest immediately in phase 2 with 4 lanes, instead of waiting until 2025, helping to save investment capital.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also agreed on the investment policy for two expressways connecting Dong Dang - Tra Linh route to Ta Lung border gate and the route connecting to Cao Bang city.
According to the Prime Minister, only with such synchronous and interconnected investment will it be effective, helping to solve bottlenecks and bottlenecks in traffic infrastructure for the two poor provinces of Cao Bang and Lang Son, because currently these two provinces have no other roads other than roads, thereby helping the two provinces develop.
This is the third time the Prime Minister has visited the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway project. Previously, on January 1, 2024 and November 14, 2024, the Prime Minister gave the order to start construction and encouraged construction workers at the site.
The Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway project has a total length of 121 km, divided into two investment phases. In phase 1, the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway is invested with a length of more than 93 km, starting at the Tan Thanh Border Gate intersection, Van Lang district (Lang Son), and ending at the National Highway 3 intersection in Chi Thao commune, Quang Hoa district (Cao Bang). The highlight of the project is the two tunnels through the mountains of Dong Khe and That Khe.
Phase 1 of the project has a total investment of 14,167 billion VND, invested by the consortium of Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company - ICV Vietnam Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company - Deo Ca Transport Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company - Construction Joint Stock Company 568. Phase 1 is expected to be opened to traffic in 2025 and completed in 2026.
