Prime Minister requests adjustment of general education program towards reducing overload

The Prime Minister directed to mobilize all resources, print and supply enough textbooks; research and adjust the general education program in the direction of reducing overload.

On September 19, the Government Office issued document No. 9561/VPCP-KGVX conveying the direction of Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on the supply of textbooks for the 2026-2027 school year.

Regarding the supply of textbooks for the 2026-2027 school year, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung requested the Ministry of Education and Training to urgently and drastically direct localities and the Vietnam Education Publishing House to strictly implement the Prime Minister's direction at the thematic Government meeting on law-making in September 2026 and the Government Leader's direction in document No. 9481/VPCP-KGVX dated September 17, 2026, document No. 467/TB-VPCP dated September 10, 2026; in which it is noted:

Focus on mobilizing all resources, immediately regulating, printing, and supplying sufficient quantities, ensuring the quality of textbooks for general education institutions, not letting textbooks lack for students to study, completing the supply of textbooks and reporting to the Prime Minister before September 22, 2026.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung directed the Ministry of Education and Training to urgently review, research, and consider adjusting the general education program in the direction of reducing overload, taking general education as the foundation, ensuring that all students are educated, equipped with full knowledge, skills, qualities and necessary competencies, paying attention to moral education, personality, patriotism, sense of responsibility, and aspiration to contribute.

Review and complete textbooks in a practical and effective direction, promptly adjust inadequacies in accordance with the direction of the General Secretary and President in Notice No. 160-TB/VPTW dated August 29, 2026 and the direction of the Prime Minister in Conclusion Notice No. 456/TB-VPCP dated August 29, 2026; report to the Prime Minister in December 2026.
