On August 12, in Vientiane capital, Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Member of the Politburo, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, led a high-level delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam to pay respects and attend the memorial service for Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly.
On this occasion, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu met with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.
At the meeting, on behalf of the high-level delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary and President To Lam, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu sent to General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, through him to the Party, State, National Assembly, people of fraternal Lao ethnic groups and the entire family of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane his sincere regards and deepest condolences.

The Standing Secretary of the Secretariat emphasized that the passing of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane is a great loss for the Party, State and fraternal people of Laos, and at the same time Vietnam has lost a great friend, a close and loyal comrade, who always has deep feelings and valuable support, constantly nurturing and consolidating the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic linkage between Vietnam and Laos.
The Standing Secretary of the Secretariat informed the General Secretary, President of Laos that in the past two days, hundreds of delegations of leaders, officials of central and local departments, ministries, branches, and mass organizations of Vietnam have visited the Lao Embassy in Hanoi and the Lao Consulates General in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang City as well as representative agencies of Vietnam have visited Lao representative agencies abroad to pay respects and record in the mourning book the President of the Lao National Assembly, deeply expressing the unwavering affection of Vietnamese leaders, officials, Party members and people for the Party, State, fraternal Lao people and Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane personally.
Comrade General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith respectfully thanked the Party and State of Vietnam and personally the General Secretary and President To Lam for always standing shoulder to shoulder, sharing with the Party, State and people of Laos in important moments. The Party and State of Laos, personally the General Secretary and President and the family of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane were extremely moved, respecting the loyalty and affection of the Party, State and people of brotherly Vietnam, in addition to performing the National Funeral in Vietnam, they sent high-level delegations led by key leaders to Vientiane to directly share condolences, attend the funeral and memorial service for Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane.
This is a vivid proof, showing the close, faithful, unwavering brotherly and sisterly feelings, the tradition of always standing shoulder to shoulder in all circumstances between the two Parties and two countries. Comrade believes that, with the valuable, timely, and righteous encouragement and sharing of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, along with the determination to turn pain into action of cadres, Party members, compatriots, and soldiers across Laos, the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and people of Laos as well as the family of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane will soon overcome this pain and loss, successfully implement the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress, the 10th 5-year socio-economic development plan; continue to work with Vietnamese comrades to nurture and promote the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic linkage between Laos - Vietnam, Vietnam - Laos to continuously develop.
Also on this occasion, the two sides also exchanged a number of contents to continue promoting and bringing the cooperative relationship between the two Parties and two countries into depth and effectiveness, realizing the high-level agreements reached, making practical contributions to the development of each country as well as for peace, stability and development in the region.
