On the morning of September 10, 2024, in Hanoi, General Secretary and President To Lam attended the 50th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Engineering, Ministry of National Defense (September 10, 1974 - September 10, 2024) and received the Ho Chi Minh Medal .
Also attending the ceremony were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
The General Department of Engineering is an agency under the Ministry of National Defense, with the function of advising the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense in leading and directing technical assurance work in the People's Army and Militia and Self-Defense Forces; assisting the Minister of National Defense in performing the function of state management of technical assurance work;
Directing the entire military engineering sector on technical work in the People's Army and Militia; managing and commanding subordinate agencies and units. The traditional day of the General Department of Engineering is September 10, 1974.
