General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left Hanoi to attend the Future Summit, the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, work in the United States, and then pay a state visit to Cuba at the invitation of First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his wife.
According to VNA, the official delegation accompanying the General Secretary and President includes Politburo members: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of Central Propaganda; Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defence; Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security.
Party Central Committee Secretaries: Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chief of Office of the Party Central Committee; Le Hoai Trung, Head of Central External Relations.
The delegation also included Party Central Committee members: Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Central Economic Committee; Le Khanh Hai, Chairman of the Office of the President; Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment; Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Minister of Construction, Chairman of the Vietnam Sub-Committee, Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee; Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training; Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association; Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City.
Also joining the delegation were Assistant to the General Secretary, Head of the General Secretary's Office To An Xo; Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung; Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations Dang Hoang Giang; Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long.
The working trip of General Secretary and President To Lam to the United Nations is of great significance, continuing to affirm Vietnam's contributions to the world's largest multilateral organization, while also demonstrating Vietnam's proactiveness and positivity in participating in resolving regional and world issues.
On the other hand, the working trip to the US took place on the occasion of the first anniversary of the two countries upgrading their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and actively preparing for activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations in 2025.
This is an important occasion for both sides to review the achievements brought about by the new framework of relations, and discuss major orientations and measures to continue maintaining the positive, stable and substantive development momentum of the relationship in the coming years.
Meanwhile, the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam is a testament to the traditional solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba that has always been considered a valuable asset nurtured by the Party, State and people of the two countries, and at the same time demonstrates Vietnam's high regard for Cuba and Cuba's position in Vietnam's foreign policy.
