Within the framework of the State visit to the Republic of Singapore and the keynote speech at the 23rd Shangri-La Dialogue, on the morning of May 30, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, paid flower services to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the statue and stele commemorating President Ho Chi Minh in the Asian Civilization Museum, Singapore.
General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, observed a minute of silence to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, a genius leader, a great teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, a national liberation hero, an exemplary international communist soldier, a close friend of peace-loving and social progress-loving nations around the world.
In the vast space of the Museum, statues of President Ho Chi Minh and statues of many other Asian leaders and celebrities are placed solemnly.
In May 2008, to celebrate the 118th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Singapore, the Singapore National Heritage Committee inaugurated a memorial stele to President Ho Chi Minh in the Asian Civilization Museum campus.
Following that, friends who love Vietnam at the Singapore National Heritage Committee, the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore and the Ho Chi Minh Museum had the idea of placing the statue of President Ho Chi Minh next to the memorial stele. In September 2011, the statue of Uncle Ho placed next to the memorial stele was inaugurated.
The Asian Civilization Museum is located next to the Singapore River, depicting the historical connection between Asian cultures and between Asia and the world.
