On the afternoon of May 29, General Secretary and President To Lam attended the Vietnam - Singapore Technology Connection Forum with the theme "From Strategic Partnership to Industrial Platforms, Innovation and Sustainable Development of the New Generation".
Speaking to outline the strategic direction of cooperation in the fields of science and technology (S&T), innovation (I innovation) and digital transformation (CDS) between Vietnam and Singapore, General Secretary and President To Lam stated clearly that the world is entering a deep transformation phase, where S&T and innovation are not only a driving force for growth, but are becoming a decisive factor in national competitiveness and the position of each economy in the global value chain.
Assessing Singapore as one of the leading technology, innovation and finance centers in Asia; impressed with Singapore's long-term development vision, modern management capabilities and dynamic innovation ecosystem, General Secretary and President To Lam said that the two economies have a clear strategic complementary nature.
General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that what the two countries aim for is not only to receive technology, but to jointly develop technological capacity; not only short-term cooperation, but also to jointly create new values capable of deeply participating in the regional and global value chain; gradually forming a Vietnam - Singapore technology cooperation space, where knowledge, data, technology and high-quality human resources are effectively connected to create technology products and solutions of regional and international value.
The General Secretary and President believes that the two sides will not only stop at exchanging ideas, but will also open up specific directions for cooperation between businesses, universities, research institutes and technology partners of the two countries; it is necessary to strongly promote cooperation projects in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital technology, smart logistics, clean energy, network security and innovation.
The two sides need to promote connections between businesses and research institutes and universities; form linked R&D centers, joint laboratories, high-quality technology human resource exchange programs and mechanisms to support cross-border innovation into specific technology projects at the implementation level.
General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that with the foundation of good political relations, strategic trust between the two countries, and great potential in S&T and human resources, Vietnam - Singapore technology cooperation will become an important pillar in bilateral relations in the coming time.
On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam and senior leaders of the two countries witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents between Vietnam and Singapore in the fields of: high technology; artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation; semiconductor industry, energy and supply chains; healthcare, biology and healthcare; innovation and startups; education, training and human resource development; digital finance, trade and services.
