This morning (December 27), the funeral of General Nguyen Quyet - former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the State Council (now Vice President) - was solemnly held at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi).
The Central Party Executive Committee delegation led by General Secretary To Lam visited General Nguyen Quyet.
The delegation included President Luong Cuong; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu.
Also participating in the delegation were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An and many leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.
Following that, the Presidential delegation led by President Luong Cuong; the National Assembly delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and the Government delegation led by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh paid their respects.
The delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front led by Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien and the delegation of Hanoi City led by Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai paid their respects.
The Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense delegation led by General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense visited.
Deeply mourning General Nguyen Quyet, General Secretary To Lam wrote in the condolence book: “The Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam respectfully pays tribute to General Nguyen Quyet, a staunch communist who participated in leading the Vietnamese revolution, a talented general of the People's Army, and an outstanding son of his homeland Hung Yen.
Comrade's revolutionary life began very early, in the very difficult days of the country, but he was enlightened very early, correctly perceived the revolutionary path of the Party, and participated in leading the revolution and the army to win one victory after another, bringing glory to the country and homeland.
His life is a shining example for cadres, Party members, armed forces and youth to learn and follow. We will continue to promote the achievements of the revolution and firmly defend the Fatherland and successfully build socialism in our country."
Moved to write in the condolence book, President Luong Cuong wrote: "Deeply mourning comrade General Nguyen Quyet, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, former Standing Member of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission), former Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, former Deputy Minister of National Defense - A talented, virtuous, and extremely loyal general, but also very simple and close to our Party and our Army."
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man wrote in the condolence book: “We deeply mourn the passing of General Nguyen Quyet, a staunch, courageous, and intelligent Communist who possessed all the qualities of a typical general in the Ho Chi Minh era. The General has passed away forever, but his great and exceptionally outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the Army will remain forever. The General's passing is a great loss to the Party, the State, our People, and our Army. We respectfully bow before the General's spirit. We would like to send our deepest condolences to his entire family.”
General Nguyen Quyet (birth name Nguyen Tien Van), born on August 20, 1922; hometown Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province.
After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, State, professors, doctors and family, due to old age and poor health, General Nguyen Quyet passed away at 9:09 p.m. on December 23 at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 102.
The memorial service for General Nguyen Quyet will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; the memorial service from 1:30 p.m.; and the burial service from 3:30 p.m. on December 27, at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi.
