The meeting took place on the occasion of Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife's state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen believes that under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, headed by Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Laos will continue to achieve more achievements, successfully implement the goals set by the 11th Congress, prepare and successfully organize the 12th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, and build a peaceful, independent, democratic, unified and prosperous Laos.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen also emphasized that the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos has been constantly developing, and affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City always strives to realize high-level agreements between leaders of the two Parties and two countries.
On the Ho Chi Minh City side, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen shared the achievements the city has made in socio-economic development, especially emphasizing important areas of cooperation with Laos such as trade, tourism, investment, agriculture, human resource training, and cultural exchange.

He believed that Ho Chi Minh City would continue to maintain its growth momentum, ensure social security and improve the quality of life of its people.
General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith emphasized that the Lao Party and State attach special importance to and give the highest priority to consolidating and enhancing the great friendship, solidarity, special and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. He highly appreciated the friendly relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities, especially the capital Vientiane, and hoped that Ho Chi Minh City would continue to promote cooperation in various fields, while supporting Lao provinces in the development process.
Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith said he will direct Lao ministries, branches and localities to closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City to effectively implement agreements between high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, and strongly promote cooperation in all fields to achieve greater, more substantial results.
