This afternoon (February 24), in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to present the President's decision to officers on duty at the United Nations peacekeeping missions (GGHB) and the training mission of the European Union (EU).
Senior General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Head of the Ministry of National Defense Steering Committee on participation in United Nations Security operations - chaired the ceremony.

The officers who will be performing this mission include: Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Thao as a military observer at the United Nations Highway Command in South Sudan (UNMISS); Major Le Thi Phuong Dung as a military observer at the United Nations Interim Security mission in the Abyei region (UNISFA); Captain Nguyen Anh Tuan as an intelligence analyst at the United Nations Highway Command in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA); Captain Nguyen Thanh Hai performing his duties at the European Union Training mission in the Central African Republic; Senior Lieutenant Pham Duc Tho as a military observer at the UNISFA mission.
Presenting the decision and presenting flowers to congratulate officers performing the Border Guard mission, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien requested the 5 officers to prepare to go on the mission to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the foreign viewpoints and guidelines of the Party, State, and Army; strictly comply with the discipline of the Vietnam People's Army, regulations of the United Nations, laws of the host country, instructions of competent authorities and the Vietnam Border Guard Department; always ensure military service.
Promoting the tradition of the Vietnamese Army and Blue Beret Force, officers need to demonstrate their bravery and capacity, contributing to spreading the image, country and people of Vietnam and the Vietnam People's Army in the international arena; preserving and building the position and image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era in the eyes of the people, local authorities and international colleagues and friends.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien noted that in the process of performing tasks away from home, officers must always uphold the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, overcoming all difficulties, being proactive and creative; maintaining internal solidarity, regularly sharing and exchanging experiences and information; supporting and helping each other to successfully complete tasks.
Immediately after deploying to the mission, officers need to quickly grasp the local situation, get to work immediately, perform well their assigned duties and tasks; proactively grasp the local situation and activities of the mission, contributing to the basis for the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to report, advise and propose to the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense on strategic orientations for deploying forces to participate in United Nations General Confederation of Labor activities in the coming time.

Reporting at the ceremony, Major General Pham Manh Thang - Director of the Vietnam Border Guard Department - said that all preparations for deployment for the 5 officers have been basically completed.
To do a good job of preparing for the force, the Vietnam External Protection Department has proactively selected staff to ensure that they meet the requirements of military capacity, knowledge of the United Nations External Protection Agency, foreign language skills and good health; at the same time, organized training courses according to the requirements of the United Nations.
