As a person with the opportunity to directly witness a long period in the glorious history of the Vietnamese revolutionary press for a hundred years, and to be honored to be among the group of journalists, to have a small part in the glorious journalism career founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - President Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of the Communist Party, I am very happy and touched to be present at this solemn and special ceremony, to express my gratitude to the generations of journalists who have pioneered before me, to share my sincere feelings and respect for my colleagues who are working full of enthusiasm and creativity at the time of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, when the world is undergoing rapid and contemporary changes; and to express my hope, confidence and trust to the people who have been working in the press for more than 100 years and a long time!
I would like to express my gratitude to the Organizing Committee for giving me this great honor. I would like to respect General Secretary To Lam, leaders of the Party, State, Fatherland Front, and wish veteran journalists, colleagues working in the press, and all comrades good health, happiness and success!
Dear comrades!
Since June 21, 1925, when the first issue of Thanh Nien newspaper was founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, a new press has appeared in the political and social life of our country, a press with a new and special mission. That is the mission of a weapon on the ideological front; a tool to awaken, educate and build the quantity of the revolution; a means to organize and lead the people to carry out political tasks under the leadership of the Party; all for the purpose of repelling the invading empire and colonies, gaining independence and freedom; liberating people from slavery, oppression and exploitation; moving towards building socialism, bringing happiness to the people, peace, unity, wealth and sustainability to the country.
From the period before the Communist Party was born, through the years of fighting under the domination of the colonialists and feudal regime, to the two wars to save the country, against the most powerful invaders, revolutionary press generations have experienced countless hardships and sacrifices, under the conditions of fierce oppression and terrorism by the enemy, or in difficult and deprived conditions in the battle zone, in times of prosperity, to maintain newspapers, radio programs, news reports, contributing to arousing the belief and will to victory.
More than 500 journalist martyrs fell on the battlefields, many revolutionary journalists sacrificed themselves in Imperial colonial prisoners. In peaceful national construction and defense of the Fatherland, our press is a pioneer force in innovation, timely reflection of thoughts, aspirations, good initiatives, and creative models of the People, participating in monitoring, criticizing policies, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, becoming a two-way bridge, connecting our country with the world in the process of increasingly extensive and comprehensive international integration.
Over the past 100 years, revolutionary press has accompanied the nation, written glorious pages of history, leaving us and the generations who are tomorrow's newspapers with a huge spiritual asset, strong creative inspiration and passionate love for the profession, along with extremely valuable lessons and experiences.
We are the ones who entered the journalism profession with the encouragement from the great journalism career of President Ho Chi Minh and the outstanding and resilient revolutionary journalists: Truong Chinh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Xuan Thuy, Tran Huy Lieu, Phan Dang Luu... But happier than previous generations of revolutionary journalists, we enjoyed education in socialist schools, received vocational training in professional schools, and were guided by talented, dedicated, and experienced revolutionary journalists who struggled in the hardships and sacrifices of two resistance wars such as: Hoang Tung, Tran Lam, Hong Ha, Ha Dang, Huu Tho, Luu Quy Ky, Quang Dam, Moi Thang, Hong Chuong Dao... to guide, encourage and motivate teachers to pass on the profession.
More than anyone else, we are deeply aware that, in order to truly be worthy of being a "warrior" on the Party's ideological front, contributing our strength and intelligence to building a solid bridge connecting the Party and the People, becoming an organizational and leadership tool of the Party in carrying out the important political tasks of the nation, effectively contributing to the responsibility of "exorcism", protecting the great achievements of the revolution under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam, the revolutionary soldiers and our people had to exchange their blood, sweat and tears to get it, journalists must "clear eyes, clear hearts and sharp writing".
Bright Eye is the knowledge guided by intelligence, because the knowledge system is constantly nurtured and opened, because the life experiences of journalists are enriched every day through practical life experiences. "Bright eyes" for journalists to recognize, analyze, and evaluate events and manifestations of life to discover new problems from practice, to recognize the truths and hidden nature behind the colors and layers of the outside world.
Intact is the morality, conscience, love for the profession and sense of political and social responsibility of journalists, the qualities for journalists to fulfill their role as Soldiers on the front of journalism as Uncle Ho reminded. "Intact" is also something to urge every journalist to commit to the profession of journalism for the benefit of the nation, for the happiness of the people, for the sustainability of the regime, to dare to accept complex difficulties for the right reason, to show courage in the face of temptations for unjust benefits.
"Excellence" is talent, professional capacity, creativity of convincing and attractive press works and products, bringing people the right awareness and positive inspiration in work, production and life. Skin is also the ability to use advanced technical tools, means, technology, methods, and creative working methods, adapting quickly and effectively to changes in technology and changes in practice.
Dear comrades!
The 100-year history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism is very proud, but it is also a reminder to us about a future vision for revolutionary journalism in the new era of national development. Now, we are facing a world of rapid, complex and unpredictable change. Science and technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), are making a very strong impact on human life, disrupting the entire lifestyle, the way of thinking, the way of doing things and many problems of society.
In that general context, the problem is how our press must make the best use of favorable opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges, fulfill its mission before the Party, the People, the nation, and contribute to bringing our country to the goal of 100 years of the founding of the country and beyond. As a personal person, and also the wish of many journalists and press agencies that I know, I would like to express a few wishes:
- Firstly, if the tradition and characteristics of revolutionary journalism are dynamic, creative, and always pioneering in life, now is the most necessary and urgent time for our journalists to express that spirit in digital transformation, transform professional methods of operation, transform the organization of the press management and operation apparatus, adapt most quickly to practical conditions and most actively meet the requirements of the revolutionary cause. Digital transformation is not really just a matter of technology, but more importantly, first of all, it is the transformation of people from awareness, political determination, working methods, work organization methods, reasonable application of technology, to investment in human resources, to retrainment for journalists, to technical infrastructure...
- Second, from a clear and correct awareness of the current press situation, it is necessary to comprehensively and synchronously innovate, revolutionizing both content, methods of operation, production technology, means of communication and communication... necessarily leading to the need to innovate the organization of press agencies in the direction of streamlining, compactness, networking, efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency. In that condition, each press agency and each journalist must be proactive, creative, and proactive in solving organizational and employment issues. However, it is indispensable to have the attention of the Party and State, of each locality, demonstrated by reasonable policies in arranging human resources, training, creating jobs, making livelihoods, and converting jobs for journalists who are not subject to being arranged in the new apparatus.
- Third, from the lesson about the role of our country's and the world's press over the past 100 years, I hope that the Party, the State, localities, departments and branches will continue to pay attention to leadership, direction, and have long-term, consistent strategic decisions to develop the increasingly strong, humane, professional, modern Vietnamese press, and is truly an effective tool in organizing, building and developing the country, a sharp weapon to protect the country, protect the regime, protect the Party and protect the People.
Once again, I would like to express my deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and previous generations who opened and made the glorious history of 100 revolutionary presses; I would like to express my trust to those who are continuing the revolutionary press career with the hope that the country's press will develop more radiantly, contributing more greatly to the cause of national construction and the happiness of the people!
