According to the arrangement plan, Tuyen Quang plans to have 51 remaining commune-level administrative units, including 46 communes and 5 wards. The number of commune-level administrative units decreased by 86 units, down 62.77%.
Of these, 3 communes are kept intact and not merged, including: Trung Ha commune, Chiem Hoa district; Hung Duc commune, Ham Yen district and Kien Thiet commune, Yen Son district.
Tuyen Quang will establish 18 new communes on the basis of merging 2 administrative units; 23 new communes from merging 3 administrative units and 6 communes formed from merging 4 or more administrative units.
At the conference, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee also informed about the merger of Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces according to the plan to merge the entire natural area and population of the two localities.
After the merger, the new province will have an area of nearly 13,800km2 and a population of over 1.86 million people.
