Expected to reduce about 73% of commune-level administrative units
On the afternoon of April 19, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Binh province held an information conference on the arrangement and merger of provincial-level administrative units; arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Thai Binh province.
At the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Binh - said that, in the morning of the same day, the Executive Committee of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee held a conference for comments and voting through the Resolution on the Project on arranging administrative units at the commune level and the scheme of arranging Hung Yen and Thai Binh province. At this conference, delegates focused on discussing and contributing ideas related to the contents of the projects, thereby voting through the Resolution on the Project on arranging administrative units at the commune level and the scheme of arranging Hung Yen and Thai Binh province with an absolute rate of 100%.

According to the plan, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on April 22, Thai Binh province will organize a public consultation in the province on the policy of arranging and merging provincial-level administrative units and arranging commune-level administrative units in Thai Binh province in 2025; at the same time, urgently complete the dossier, project, report to the Central Government and submit to the Government before May 1.
According to the draft Project to reorganize Hung Yen and Thai Binh provinces, the proposed plan is to establish a new Hung Yen province on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 930.20 km2 and population of 1,474,894 people of Hung Yen province with the entire natural area of 1,584.61 km2 and population of 2,093,049 people of Thai Binh province.
After the arrangement, Hung Yen province has a natural area of 2,514.81 km2, a population of 3,567,943 people, and is expected to have 104 commune-level administrative units.
For the draft Project on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, the whole Thai Binh province will currently reorganize from 242 existing commune-level administrative units (including 223 communes, 10 wards, 9 towns) to 65 commune-level administrative units (including 60 communes and 5 wards), reducing 177 units, equivalent to about 73%.
Specific list of 65 commune-level administrative units expected after the reorganization
For Thai Binh city, establish 5 wards on the basis of merging current wards and communes and some communes from Vu Thu and Kien Xuong districts. The specific list includes: Thai Binh ward, Tran Lam ward, Tran Hung Dao ward, Tra Ly ward and Vu Phuc ward.

In Thai Thuy district, establishing 11 new communes on the basis of consolidating current communes and towns, including: Thai Thuy commune, Dong Thuy Anh commune, Bac Thuy Anh commune, Thuy Anh commune, Nam Thuy Anh commune, Bac Thai Ninh commune, Thai Ninh commune, Tay Thai Ninh commune, Dong Thai Ninh, Nam Thai Ninh commune and Tay Thuy Anh commune.


In Tien Hai district, establishing 8 new communes on the basis of consolidating the current communes and towns, including: Tien Hai commune, Tay Tien Hai commune, Ai Quoc commune, Dong Chau commune, Dong Tien Hai commune, Nam Cuong commune, Hung Phu commune and Nam Tien Hai commune.

In Quynh Phu district, establishing 9 new communes on the basis of merging the current communes and towns, including: Quynh Phu commune, Minh Tho commune, Nguyen Du commune, Quynh An commune, Ngoc Lam commune, Dong Dam commune, A Sao commune, Phu Duc commune, Tan Tien commune.


In Dong Hung district, 9 new communes are established on the basis of consolidating current communes and towns, including: Nguyen Xa commune, Bac Tien Hung commune, Dong Tien Hung commune, Nam Dong Hung, Bac Dong Quan commune, Bac Dong Hung commune, Dong Quan commune, Nam Tien Hung commune, Tien Hung commune.

In Hung Ha district, 8 new communes are established on the basis of consolidating current communes and towns, including: Hung Ha commune, Tien La commune, Le Quy Don commune, Hong Minh commune, Than Khe commune, Dien Ha commune, Ngu Thien commune, Long Hung commune.

In Kien Xuong district, establishing 9 new communes on the basis of consolidating current communes and towns (except for communes imported to Thai Binh City), including: Kien Xuong commune, Le Loi commune, Quang Lich commune, Vu Quy commune, Binh Thanh commune, Binh Dinh commune, Hong Vu commune, Binh Nguyen commune, Tra Giang commune.


In Vu Thu district, 6 new communes were established on the basis of merging current communes and towns (except for communes merged into Thai Binh city), including: Vu Thu commune, Thu Tri commune, Tan Thuan commune, Thu Vu commune, Vu Tien commune, Van Xuan commune.
