Within the framework of the State visit to Australia, at noon on August 11 (local time), in Canberra, immediately after the talks, General Secretary and President To Lam and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met with the press.
Speaking at a press conference, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed that Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in the region. Vietnam's achievements are creating opportunities to promote the increasingly strong development of cooperative relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that he and General Secretary and President To Lam exchanged and agreed to strengthen cooperation and further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries; improve resilience, adaptability and economic recovery between Vietnam and Australia; strengthen development cooperation in the fields of defense, maritime, border security, digital economy, agriculture, energy, mining, technology and science, and innovation.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized that the two sides have more opportunities to increase trade value, as well as further strengthen economic relations; educational cooperation is also one of the important pillars; new air routes will promote trade and strengthen the bond between the people of the two countries.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese believes that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop stronger and wishes to cooperate closely to implement opportunities in practice to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
At the press conference, General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated Australia's policies and initiatives to strengthen ties with Southeast Asia.
General Secretary and President To Lam said that at the talks, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on major directions to deepen the relationship between the two countries. The two countries will further promote stronger cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, digital technology, network security, green technology and emerging technologies; support improving capacity to participate more deeply in the regional and global supply chain; strengthen education and training cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
Regarding regional and international issues, the General Secretary and President said that the two sides agreed to strengthen dialogue, build trust, ensure maritime and aviation security and safety, and resolve disputes by peaceful means on the basis of respecting international law. Vietnam has a resolution, which identifies the foundations for building and developing into a strong maritime nation. Vietnam highly values and wishes to cooperate with a maritime power like Australia.
Vietnam and Australia will strengthen coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums; coordinate positions on issues of common concern; encourage Australia to strengthen connectivity with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), consolidate ASEAN's central role and support the Mekong sub-region in building a green economy and sustainable development.
The General Secretary and President said that on this occasion, the two sides signed many important cooperation documents; affirmed his belief that with common determination, the relations between the two countries will continue to develop strongly, meeting the interests of the people of the two countries and making positive contributions to peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.
