Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn expressed his pleasure to meet General Secretary and President To Lam again in Canberra after her first state visit to Vietnam in September 2025.
Warmly welcoming the General Secretary, President and high-level Vietnamese delegation on a state visit to Australia, Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn affirmed that the relationship between the two countries is developing very strongly on a solid political trust foundation.
The Governor-General of Australia believes that this visit will witness new achievements, contributing to adding new impetus to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries in the new period.
General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his pleasure at the strong development of Vietnam-Australia relations after more than 50 years of establishing relations, the implementation of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; emphasizing that Australia is a reliable friend and partner, with many similar strategic interests to Vietnam.
Vietnam appreciates Australia's companionship and support in the country's development process, and at the same time wishes to make the two countries' relations increasingly deeper, more substantive and effective.
General Secretary and President To Lam wished that this visit to Australia would continue to elevate cooperative relations to a new level, meeting the increasing development requirements of Vietnam and Australia.
Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn affirmed that Australia wishes to become a reliable partner of Vietnam, ready to accompany and support Vietnam in implementing development goals.
Regarding the direction of cooperation, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that the two countries continue to consolidate political trust through high-level exchanges and cooperation channels; expand defense and security cooperation; promote trade and investment, towards the goal of a two-way turnover of 20 billion USD and strongly increase two-way investment.
Vietnam wishes to welcome more high-quality capital flows from Australian businesses and investment funds through Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, and at the same time requests the State and Government of Australia to continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to expand operations in Australia.
In development cooperation, education and knowledge sharing, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that Australia continue to support Vietnam in improving public administration capacity, administrative reform and digital transformation in the public sector; expand scholarships, linkages between universities, research institutes and vocational training cooperation, meeting the human resource needs for new industries.
The Governor-General of Australia emphasized the significance of people-to-community relations in building a long-term foundation for relations between the two countries; highly appreciated the increasingly outstanding contributions of the Vietnamese community in Australia, as well as the role of Vietnamese students, intellectuals, experts and entrepreneurs in promoting connectivity between the two countries.
Australia wishes to continue to create a favorable environment for the Vietnamese community to promote their strengths, preserve their cultural identity and contribute to the diversity and prosperity of Australian society.
