On the afternoon of September 3, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam held a high-level online meeting with Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party and Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio, according to VNA.
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio once again expressed his deep condolences on the passing of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio believes that General Secretary and President To Lam will continue to make important contributions to promoting and deepening the Vietnam-Japan relationship. The Japanese Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner of Japan in the region and the world.
General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully thanked Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party and Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio for sending his condolences and sending special envoy, former Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, to lead a delegation from the Japanese Government to attend the State funeral of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully thanked Prime Minister Kishida Fumio for sending his congratulations to General Secretary and President To Lam, reaffirming that Japan is an important partner of Vietnam in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
The two leaders expressed their delight at the strong, rapid and comprehensive development of bilateral relations, especially the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace in Asia and the World on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The two sides agreed to continue to enhance political trust and mutual understanding through maintaining high-level exchanges in various flexible forms, and effectively promoting bilateral dialogue and cooperation mechanisms.
The two sides agreed to promote economic cooperation as the main pillar of bilateral relations, deepening the connection between the two economies.
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio emphasized that Japan will continue to contribute to Vietnam's development through ODA aid, strengthening cooperation with Vietnam in digital transformation, green transformation, and training high-quality human resources.
General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that Vietnam will continue to strongly improve the investment environment, enhance the quality of infrastructure, and welcome foreign enterprises, including Japanese enterprises, to invest and do business in Vietnam.
The two sides agreed to continue promoting defense and security cooperation in a substantive manner, effectively implementing signed cooperation agreements; deepening human resource connectivity, people-to-people exchange, and cooperation between localities.
General Secretary and President To Lam asked the Japanese Government to continue to pay attention, have policies to encourage and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Japan.
The two sides also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, agreeing to strengthen cooperation to consolidate a peaceful, secure and stable environment in the region, including the East Sea issue.
