On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024), in Hanoi, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized the 4th Nguyen Van Linh Award ceremony, honoring 95 outstanding grassroots union presidents and grassroots union representatives nationwide for the 5th time, and receiving the First-Class Labor Medal.
Among the 95 outstanding grassroots union presidents and grassroots union representatives nationwide honored, the Vietnam Banking Union has one representative, Comrade Phung Nguyen Hai Yen, Deputy General Director, President of the grassroots union at the headquarters of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), who is honored this time.
As the President of the grassroots union at Vietcombank Headquarters - the grassroots union with the largest number of union members in the Vietcombank system, with over 3,000 members across three regions, since 2017, Comrade Phung Nguyen Hai Yen has led the headquarters union to successfully complete Vietcombank's business tasks and fulfill union work plans. The headquarters union at Vietcombank regularly collaborates closely with the professional sector to improve the material life of workers, such as policies for female workers; travel support during holidays and Tet, condolence and celebration allowances, vacation for members and workers; organizing gifts for officials and their relatives who have contributed to the revolution, war invalids and martyrs; gifts for parents; birthday gifts for officials; and sickness and disease allowances for officials and their relatives.
Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the headquarters union at Vietcombank played a role in caring for and supporting the lives of workers to effectively carry out the "dual task" of both preventing and controlling the pandemic and developing the economy and society.
She also directed the headquarters union at Vietcombank to always pay attention to and prioritize social welfare work, demonstrating the company's social responsibility to the community, significantly contributing to enhancing the image and brand of Vietcombank. With these achievements, the headquarters union at Vietcombank has been continuously awarded the title of "Outstandingly Completed Tasks" by the Vietcombank Union for many years.
Since 2017, with active contributions in professional work and union activities, she has continuously been voted as an outstanding union member and awarded the title "Excellent in Banking Work, Good at Home" by the Vietcombank Union, the Vietnam Banking Union, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
The grassroots union and its presidents play a very important role, as they are the ones who directly organize and implement the functions and tasks of the union organization; promote legal education and propaganda, care for, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of members and workers.
