Ready Strike Team
The Central Region often experiences the impact of natural disasters, storms, and floods. This is the area where the annual typhoon occurs, and the power grid system on this land strip is frequently affected, resulting in significant damage from large storms. However, thanks to experience and effective preparation, these damages have been quickly and effectively addressed.
Mr. Le Hoang Anh Dung - Deputy General Director of EVNCPC said, in the event of a natural disaster affecting the power grid on the premises managed by the Electricity Company, if the affected area is small, the Strike Team of the local Electricity Company will take the initiative to address the issue.
If the power grid is affected on a large scale, EVNCPC will mobilize Strike Teams from member Electricity Companies to provide support. One of the key factors that enables EVNCPC to quickly address the aftermath of natural disasters is the unity and mutual support among units. When a natural disaster occurs, Strike Teams from member Electricity Companies and the Central Vietnam Electricity Service Company will support each other to address the issue.
In addition, EVNCPC also receives active support from local authorities, electricity installation units on the premises, and other units, which helps to enhance the effectiveness of disaster response and recovery efforts.
This demonstrates the unity and mutual support in disaster recovery work. In fact, in recent years, EVNCPC has mobilized over 800 engineers and workers from member Electricity Companies and the Central Vietnam Electricity Service Company to provide support when typhoons made landfall in Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces with winds exceeding level 13.
Thanks to this mobilization and support, despite the severe damage to the power grid, the affected grid was quickly restored to provide electricity to customers.
Regular Drills
In addition, EVNCPC also proactively implements various disaster prevention and mitigation measures to ensure safety and quickly restore the power grid after natural disasters. EVNCPC annually organizes disaster prevention and mitigation drills to enhance the units' proactive and technical skills in addressing emergencies.
Specifically, on May 9, 2024, EVNCPC organized a drill in Quang Binh with the participation of over 100 officials and employees from Electricity Companies and the Central Vietnam Electricity Service Company, along with various equipment and tools mobilized to support grid restoration efforts.
Currently, at 13 Electricity Companies and the Central Vietnam Electricity Service Company under EVNCPC, 33 Strike Teams for disaster prevention and mitigation have been established, with a total workforce of 726 workers. Each Strike Team has at least 1 safety officer, 1 technical officer, and various safety equipment, tools, and vehicles prepared in advance.
These Strike Teams are ready to support units within EVNCPC to quickly address power grid damage when mobilized by the General Corporation.
“With experience, high technical skills, and a sense of unity, these Strike Teams have and are continuing to play a crucial role in ensuring electricity supply to quickly stabilize the lives and production of people in the Central Highlands after natural disasters.
The proactive and meticulous preparation of EVNCPC, along with mutual support among units, and the support of local authorities and the people, are the key factors in ensuring safety and quickly restoring the power grid after natural disasters,” Mr. Dung said.
