The ceremony was attended by leaders of the Party and State; Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries; members of the Central Executive Committee; representatives of central departments, ministries, branches, agencies, and organizations; local leaders at the connecting points; and international embassies and organizations in Vietnam.
Delegates of the Education sector include Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, generations of leaders of the Ministry through the ages, leaders of training institutions, outstanding scientists, teachers, and a large number of education managers. Through the online system, more than 1.6 million teachers and over 26 million students nationwide sang the National Anthem together, opening the new school year with a sacred and connected moment.
In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam played the opening drum, echoing the bustling sound of the big festival, sending a message of confidence and hope for a new school year with many successes, innovations and development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: This year's opening ceremony is of special significance as the country celebrates the 80th anniversary of National Day, which is also the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the National Ministry of Education - the predecessor of the Ministry of Education and Training. This is an opportunity to look back on the 80 year journey of the education sector in solidarity, accompanying the development of the nation, and is also an opportunity for the entire sector to be more aware of the mission and responsibility in creating people, building the country and integrating in the new era.
The Minister said that the 2025-2026 school year is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party, the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2026-2030, along with many major policies on education and training. The industry has identified the theme of the school year as "discipline - Creativity - Breakthrough - Development", with 10 key tasks and solutions to improve quality, modernize and integrate deeply.
On this occasion, to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Ministry of Education and Training in state management of education and training, the President decided to award the First Class Labor Medal to the Ministry of Education and Training.
The celebration and opening ceremony of the new school year affirmed the special attention of the Party, State and the whole society to education, while arousing the confidence, pride and aspiration for innovation of millions of teachers and students across the country in the journey to build a humane, quality, integrated and sustainable Vietnamese education.
