Attending the ceremony were General Secretary To Lam; Politburo member, President Luong Cuong; Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training through the periods; representatives of leaders of ministries, departments, branches, agencies, and central organizations; members of the National Council for Education and Human Resources Development, the State Council of Professors; ambassadors, representatives of countries and international organizations in Vietnam; reporters of news agencies and newspapers at the central and local levels.

The General Secretary emphasized 9 orientations for Education to be a key driving force for national development
Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that this is an opportunity to review the glorious tradition and express gratitude for the contributions of generations of teachers and educational managers. This is also an opportunity to affirm the determination to strongly innovate to make education truly a top national policy, a key driving force for national development and the future of the nation.
The General Secretary assessed that over the past 80 years, Vietnamese revolutionary education has always been at the forefront: Creating human resources, nurturing talents, contributing to the decisive victory of the cause of national liberation, national reunification and development. However, it is necessary to seriously recognize that the quality of education is not yet uniform, the regional gap is still large. Basic and comprehensive innovation is not yet synchronous, and there is still confusion in both awareness and action. Higher education is slow to innovate, the linkage of training - research - labor market is not tight. Teaching methods in many places have not encouraged creativity and self-study ability. Facilities, digital transformation and international integration are still limited and inadequate. There is a period when education has not fully promoted its role as a driving force for development.
These are problems that require us to be determined to overcome. Our country is entering a new stage of development, with the goal of becoming a modern industrialized country by 2030, and becoming a developed country with high income by 2045. Recently, the Politburo issued Resolution 71 on breakthroughs in education and training development. To quickly put the Resolution into practice, the General Secretary suggested: The entire Party must strongly innovate leadership thinking in education, not imposing old standards for a modern education system, but needing close, substantial direction, organizing drastic, effective implementation, consistently considering education as the top national policy. The National Assembly needs to continue to improve the legal system, creating a smooth, stable and advanced legal corridor for the cause of education and training innovation. The Government increases investment, ensures financial resources, facilities, and staff; at the same time, resolutely removes bottlenecks in mechanisms and policies to unblock and mobilize all social resources for education.
The Fatherland Front, unions, and social organizations need to promote the strength of great solidarity, encourage and spread the movement of the whole people to care for the cause of educating people. The education sector needs to pioneer in innovating thinking, methods, and governance; building a team of teachers who have both knowledge, ethics, and the desire to contribute. Teachers must be shining examples, a source of inspiration for their students. Students must nurture great ambitions and aspirations, study and practice to become global citizens, gradually integrate into international standards while always maintaining Vietnamese identity and soul.

The General Secretary emphasized a number of major orientations: First, strongly innovate thinking and action. Shifting from "reformed" reform to creative thinking - leading national development through education; taking quality - fairness - integration - efficiency as a measure; tightening enforcement discipline. Second, ensure equal access to education, improve the educational level. No children are left behind; prioritize remote areas, border areas, islands, and disadvantaged areas; increase investment in schools - school nutrition - teachers' team - digital infrastructure. Third, comprehensively innovate general education. Not only imparting knowledge, but also nurturing personality - physical training - spiritual training, arousing the spirit of citizenship, awareness of discipline and social responsibility; forming a class of people "both good at being just, kind and resilient". Fourth, create a breakthrough in higher education and vocational education. Universities must become a center for knowledge and technology production, a core for innovation - entrepreneurship; closely link training - research - transfer with the needs of national development. It is necessary to form large universities of regional and international stature, modern vocational training institutions, to train a team of high-quality human resources, contributing to the country's breakthrough in science - technology, industrialization and digital transformation. Fifth, promote international integration in education. Integrating to learn from the elite, narrowing gaps, spreading standards; encouraging co-training, linking programs, recognizing credits, exchanging lecturers - students, attracting international scholars; thereby enhancing the position of Vietnamese education.
Sixth, take care of building a team of teachers and educational managers. Teachers are the soul of education, the decisive factor for the success or failure of innovation. Teachers not only impart knowledge, but also sow seeds of aspiration, foster personality, and light up the belief of students. The Law on Teachers has been passed by the National Assembly as a foundation to ensure improving the material life, legitimate rights and interests, while improving professional standards, ethics, responsibility and social status of teachers.
Seventh, promoting digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) in education. Turning technology into a driving force for fundamental and comprehensive innovation: flexible teaching and learning, open learning materials, safe and humane digital platforms; improving digital capacity for teachers and students; ensuring data security and safety. Eighth, prioritize investment in education. Overall planning, arranging the system (especially public universities) to form a training - research - innovation center at regional level, reaching international level; using public spending effectively, not spreading; strengthening public-private cooperation, strongly mobilizing social resources to join hands for the cause of educating people.
Ninth, build a learning society, lifelong learning. At any age, field or profession, everyone must study to avoid falling behind, study to master knowledge and technology, study to develop themselves and contribute to building a strong and prosperous country. Building a learning society and encouraging lifelong learning is the most solid foundation for a self-reliant nation.
For students, the General Secretary advised: The generation of our ancestors made victory with blood and bones. Today, in peace, integration and the desire to rise up, the responsibility of the young generation is to make a new victory with knowledge - courage - creativity. He hopes that the younger generation will set clear goals; practice self-discipline; nurture a passion for discovery; Improve capacity, master digital technology and artificial intelligence in a smart, safe and humane way; Know how to love, share, and live responsibly with yourself, family and the community.
"Young students should do well the 5 things that Uncle Ho taught; high school students need to cultivate personality, citizen awareness, knowledge and nurture aspirations; students should nurture greatness, dare to think, dare to do, take the lead in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green economy and international integration, study and practice to become useful workers for the family and society", said the General Secretary.
For teachers, the General Secretary assessed them as a team of silent but persistent, sacrificing, and making great contributions to the cause of "growing people". He expressed his deep gratitude and sincere gratitude to generations of teachers. In the new period, the General Secretary hopes that teachers will continue to set an example, innovate methods, lead students on the path of knowledge and personality; Pioneering digital transformation, guiding students to use technology (especially artificial intelligence) creatively, effectively, safely and humanely; Actively participating in policy contributions, improving quality and fairness in education.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son: 80 years are like a miracle

The letter is a declaration on education and training, expressing a vision of the country's development future associated with education.
"Today's opening ceremony and celebration, rather than an event or ceremony, this is an activity that demonstrates unity and national spirit in education. Over the past 80 years, as a miracle, from the context of a country with 95% of illiterate people, a poor intellectual class like autumn leaves, countless schools, and decades of war, with a husband and wife working hard... that has now completed the completion of universal education from kindergarten to high school" - the Minister said.
The head of the education sector acknowledged that the quality of general education has been gradually improved. Vietnam is internationally recognized as a group of countries with good general education in the world. For many consecutive years, Vietnam has been in the group of 10 countries with the best results in Olympic competitions around the world.
Currently, the country has over 52,000 schools, enough space for 26 million students, of which 65% of schools are qualified, many schools are spacious and modern. The Minister acknowledged that Vietnam has the foundation and potential it has today, which has an important contribution to education and training.
However, compared to the world's leading advanced education institutions, the education sector still has many things to strive for, must do better... But with such starting points, such circumstances, such conditions and costs... what the whole country and the education sector have done in the past 80 years, it is truly a huge achievement and very proud, if not a miracle.
According to the Minister, today the education sector held the opening ceremony, entering the new school year, the new era. In the context of profound and comprehensive changes in the world, especially digital technology and artificial intelligence reshaping education on a global scale, countries are having to redefine new vision and strategy for the development of the education system in the future, launching new policies for development, competition and attracting talent.
Our country is facing a historic opportunity for breakthrough development, successfully implementing two 100-year goals. The requirements of building people and developing high-quality human resources are very urgent, requiring strong development of education and training.
This year's opening ceremony was held in the special attention of the Party and the entire population for education and training: The Politburo has just issued Resolution 71 on breakthroughs in education and training development; the National Assembly has a Resolution on implementing the everyoneage of preschool education for children aged 3 to 5 years; Preschool and primary school students are exempted from and supported with tuition fees; 248 boarding schools and semi-boarding schools in border communes are built; Many subjects are supported with lunch; High schools organize two sessions per day; Many new breakthrough policies for developing the teaching staff are legalized by the Law on Teachers... along with many other new policies.
"The road ahead is very long, the burden on the shoulders is very heavy, I hope all teachers, education staff and students, we have been creative - need to be more creative, have made efforts - need to make efforts more, act faster and stronger to overcome our own limits, take advantage of all opportunities and conditions, and fulfill the new glorious mission" - Minister Nguyen Kim Son advised.

I deeply understand that, to have today, we have favorable conditions and open opportunities, in the past few days, many generations have devoted themselves to working, fighting and sacrificing. Over the past 80 years, our nation has gone from a colony to an independent country, from separation to unity, from isolation to becoming a comprehensive strategic partner of strong countries; That 80 year has been a songwriting school with sweat, blood and tears, so that today we can welcome the new school year in peace, independence and freedom. We are grateful to express our infinite gratitude to the generation of ancestors, the generation of teachers and brothers and sisters who have contributed to building a Vietnam as it is today Dinh Nhat Thuong Thuong Thuong.
Our Party has set a goal of making Vietnam a developed country with high income by 2045 - the 100th anniversary of its independence. At that time, the labor force that created the country was the generation of students who were studying and practicing hard today. Dinh shared that he clearly understands that great mission and realizes that the future of the country depends a lot on the level of science, technology and innovation. Develop the country with digital technology, in which small semiconductor microchips or AI command lines are the foundation of the present and future world.
I find that studying and practicing knowledge, professional skills, creative thinking and the ability to solve problems in technology is not only a requirement for students studying engineering technology to graduate, but also a requirement and command from the heart of every young Vietnamese person Dinh said.
I want to start a business and develop a business operating in the field of science and technology. In the new era, Vietnam wants to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, necessarily needing large enterprises with scale of operations and influence in the world. Each generation of each historical period has its own challenges and difficulties. Our generations and ancestors have overcome the harsh challenges of life and death to be independent, not to be hungry or poor. In the coming time, when our generation steps out into the world's great seas, we know that, with uncompromising competition in the fields of technology, engineering and world trade, we will face new challenges that are no less fierce, but to overcome them, we need not only will, determination, but also intelligence and new abilities according to the requirements of the times.
Looking at the length of history and the lessons learned from our ancestors, we will rely firmly on the cultural traditions, the identity, the humanistic spirit of the Vietnamese people, we will be humble, honest and brave to learn from the world, to face and overcome new challenges with the spirit of "I am a Vietnamese".
I want to be rich, rich to make a good living, to be able to take care of my parents when they are old, to be rich so that I have more money to help my compatriots in difficult times, I want to bring many jobs and high income to others and want to affirm the intelligence and bravery of Vietnamese people not only to shine in the wartime, the time to escape poverty, but also to shine in the era of business, technology and high technology to serve human life.
I am very proud to be a student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a training center with a reputation in the field of engineering technology in the country, which is making me dare to weave my dream of technology. I hope that high school students will soon choose a direction for their future in line with the development orientation of the country, and that we all will grow up together with the country, promote the development of the country, so that today's leaders and generations can rest assured about us" - Dinh expressed.
