On August 26, Long Chau and Novo Nordisk pharmaceutical systems signed a comprehensive cooperation strategy, pioneering the care of patients with diabetes and obesity.

This is an important milestone, connecting the system of ownership of a network of 2,222 leading pharmacies in Vietnam with the world's leading pharmaceutical group with more than 100 years of operation with the goal of bringing advanced medical achievements, breakthrough solutions in the treatment of diabetes, overweight and obesity, and a health awareness raising program closer to the community.

In addition to the commitment to a healthier Vietnam, the two units hope to contribute to bringing the country's healthcare sector closer to international health care standards.

Currently, non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer... are the causes of a great burden of disease for most countries and regions. These are diseases with a high incidence rate and are the main cause of disability and death in adults.

In Vietnam, about 4 million people will have diabetes in 2021 and about 55% of them will have serious complications such as cardiovascular disease, kidneys, eyes and nerves. At the same time, the rate of overweight and obesity in adults tends to increase, especially in large cities. Rapid increases in obesity rates are directly related to increased burden and death from many non-communicable diseases.

The combination of Novo Nordisk's scientific breakthrough and technology platform, Long Chau's network of 2,222 pharmacies and 18,000 experienced pharmacists opens up a more comprehensive approach to health care, aiming for optimal and long-term treatment outcomes for patients.

Within the framework of cooperation, the two sides will jointly develop a sustainable health ecological foundation, contributing to the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in Vietnam.

At the same time, Long Chau and Novo Nordisk, together with the leading medical team, join hands to raise public awareness through in-depth education and consultation programs, promote compliance with treatment, optimize management of chronic diseases, especially diabetes and overweight and obesity, thereby contributing to reducing the burden of disease and bringing a healthy and proactive life to patients in Vietnam.

Mr. Erik Wiebols, General Director of Novo Nordisk Vietnam shared: We are proud to accompany Long Chau - a leading and trustworthy partner in sharing a common vision and strongly committed to the mission of promoting change to improve the quality of long-term health care for Vietnamese people. I believe that this cooperation will contribute to expanding access to innovative breakthroughs from Novo Nordisk for people with diabetes and obesity in Vietnam, as well as enhancing the capacity of the health system to better serve patients".

Ms. Nguyen Do Quyen, Deputy General Director of FPT Retail and Executive Director of Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System, said that Long Chau is not only a place to deliver medicine to each customer, but also a modern healthcare platform, applying technology to increase treatment compliance and support personalization of the care roadmap - a key factor in improving public health effectiveness.

The system across the country not only ensures the consistency of product quality and transparency, but also contributes to strengthening trust, maintaining a continuous treatment process and gradually narrowing the medical gap, so that all Vietnamese people have the opportunity to easily access breakthrough technologies in the health care sector.

Based on its core capacity and responsibility, Long Chau is ready to accompany and share resources with global partners to bring medical advances and new treatment solutions in the world closer to the Vietnamese people, helping patients easily access modern therapies such as in developed countries, especially in groups with high mortality rates, non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and obesity, Ms. Quyen added.

Responding to the spirit of the Politburo's Resolution on breakthroughs in people's health care, meeting the requirements of national development in the new era, placing people at the center of health care and health work, Long Chau has, is and will continue to work with global strategic partners to join hands to build a medical foundation, update medical advances to get closer to Vietnamese people.
