Raising public awareness of chronic diseases
In Vietnam, according to a 2022 report by the Ministry of Health, the burden of disease and the number of deaths due to chronic diseases, mainly diabetes, cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, and respiratory diseases, are increasing rapidly.
This not only affects the quality of life, reducing the number of healthy years of life of the individual patient, but also creates a huge financial burden on the Government and society, which is a challenge in public health care that Vietnam is facing.
In an effort to improve the quality of care for patients with diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney failure, FPT Long Chau and Boehringer Ingelheim officially launched the campaign "Comprehensive health care and management", starting with activities to raise awareness about the disease.
By collaborating with frontline experts from key hospital units, the two units are committed to providing patients with the most accurate and timely medical knowledge. When patients understand their illness, they will be more proactive in adhering to treatment regimens, making positive changes in their lifestyle, thereby improving the results in the process of "fighting" the disease.
Proactively screen and protect your health from the earliest signs
Early detection and timely treatment are the golden keys to effectively managing chronic diseases, especially diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and chronic kidney failure. However, many people with the disease do not know they have it until it has become severe because they do not have any symptoms. This leads to about 70 - 80% of people with diabetes not receiving treatment.
Faced with this situation, in this cooperation, FPT Long Chau and Boehringer Ingelheim decided to organize free screening for type II diabetes, heart failure, and chronic kidney failure at some FPT Long Chau pharmacies and ward/commune health stations in localities. This is the first time the two units have cooperated to implement this series of events, marking an important milestone in comprehensive health care for people with chronic diseases in Vietnam.
Strengthening the control of disease risk factors, promoting preventive measures, early detection and treatment management to limit the increase in the rate of people at risk, suffering from disease, disability and premature death will help prevent and improve health for everyone, contributing to building a healthy community.
