One of those special collaborators is Mr. Brandon Sinkovic from the US - Academic Director, considered the "architect" of FSEL, who together with Mr. Zach Pinson, continues to create the 5-star online English learning program FSEL. .
How do you evaluate Vietnamese students' English learning?
Zach Pinson: Vietnamese people attach great importance to education and invest in their children learning English. After 15 years of living in Vietnam, I feel positive changes in learning English.
However, there are still barriers in learning English such as: Tests focus on getting high scores, not a language or a tool for communication. The gap in education and English learning between urban and rural areas is still wide and limited.
What prompted Atlantic to build and develop the FSEL online English learning application?
Zach Pinson: The birth of FSEL is a strong step to strengthen Atlantic's mission of helping Vietnamese students access high-quality English learning.
We want to bring an online English learning platform with the same high quality as at the center, saving a lot of costs. We hope to create a new change in learning English for many students across the country.
FSEL online English platform, what options do learners have, and how long will learning take to reach a certain level?
Brandon Sinkovic: Currently, FSEL has two programs: "Academic English" and "IELTS Pathway".
With Academic English, there are 6 levels from A1 to C1 according to the CEFR framework. There are a total of 72 lessons and learners need about 2 hours to complete all the lesson components. With IELTS Pathway, students have 3 levels corresponding to the desired score band: 5.0 +, 6.0 +, and 7.0 +. There are a total of 96 IELTS lessons in the program.
Regardless of the fixed schedule, depending on their goals and level of effort, students can achieve their goals faster than when studying at the center.
What are the outstanding differences of FSEL?
Brandon Sinkovic: We have a clear learning curve. This is the difference between FSEL and other applications.
In addition, FSEL does not just focus on one skill but addresses overall skills for students through listening, reading, vocabulary and grammar exercises integrated in interactive video lessons. Students will be assigned writing and speaking exercises in the Learning Forum, graded by AI. FSEL will evaluate whether students have met the test requirements, which parts are good, which parts need improvement, and how to improve.
Can you share more specifically how outstanding the quality of FSEL is?
Zach Pinson: FSEL uses high-quality, updated international textbooks from Cambridge University Press along with abundant foreign language resources, scientifically and methodically designed. As an online application, students can easily participate in learning at an affordable cost, study anytime, anywhere with a suitable roadmap and many interesting online interactive activities.
Brandon Sinkovic: FSEL lectures are designed in the form of interactive videos, students answer questions interspersed in the lecture, usually 1 question every 2-3 minutes. An average lesson takes about 19 hours of work from a team of about 20 people. FSEL spent 10,000 hours to ensure the quality of teaching content to create 532 lessons and activities to help maintain students' interest and motivation in learning such as giving away gifts or online games... which are being developed by FSEL. development.
What plans does FSEL have after launching the online English learning application?
Zach Pinson: Currently, FSEL has been trialed at a number of schools in Hanoi and received positive feedback from many students, parents and teachers.
In the future, we will certainly increase the amount of learning content, deploy new features as well as open other English routes such as English for adults, English for communication... Besides, we also expect to be able to develop languages other than English such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese... especially Vietnamese.
